Big Brother 11: Another contestant is sent packing (8 p.m. CBS).

The Vampire Diaries: In the premiere of this new dramatic thriller about vampires and teenagers -- which may remind viewers of the book and movie ‘Twilight,’ but the series is actually based on books L.J. Smith wrote in the early 1990s -- Elena (Canadian newcomer Nina Dobrev) is drawn to Stefan (Paul Wesley), a handsome and mysterious new student (8 p.m. KTLA).

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Langston, Willows (Laurence Fishburne, Marg Helgenberger) and the rest of the team investigate when a motorcycle gang member is murdered at a biker bar, but the case takes an unexpected turn when they discover the dead man was really an undercover agent whose cover had been blown in this repeat (8:59 p.m. CBS).

The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Lisa debuts her clothing line, while Sheree’s fashion line is put on hold (10 p.m. Bravo).

I Was Bitten: A woman is mauled by a tiger during a tour of a big cat preserve and a man is crushed in the jaws of an elephant (10 p.m. Discovery).

Ace of Cakes: Duff and Mary Alice make their stage debut with the ‘Annie’ national tour (10 p.m. Food).

The Day Before: This episode documents the frantic preparations made by designer Proenza Schouler on the eve of a major show (10 p.m. Sundance).

The Mentalist: While investigating the death of a student in a wilderness program for troubled kids, Patrick (Simon Baker) tries to find a clever way to get the victim’s peers to open up to him in this repeat (10 p.m. CBS).

MOVIES

The Thief of Bagdad: This 1940 fantasy was regarded as a technological tour de force when it was released, earning three Academy Awards, and today it still conveys a dazzling sense of magic. Prince Ahmad (John Justin), the rightful king of Baghdad, has been blinded by the evil Vizier Jaffar (Conrad Veidt). Aided by a resourceful thief (Sabu), Ahmad battles Jaffar to rescue a beautiful princess (June Duprez) who is under a terrible spell (5 p.m. TCM).

Hairspray: John Travolta makes an amusing gender switch as the mother of an aspiring 1960s dance-show participant (Nikki Blonsky). With Michelle Pfeiffer and Brittany Snow (8 p.m. Cinemax).
