Saturday's TV Highlights: Supernatural series and a few funny films

PROSPECT: The new TV movie 'Acceptance' takes a lighthearted look at the effort to get a young woman (Mae Whitman) into the right college, on Lifetime at 9 p.m.

SERIES

Being Human: Mitchell (Aidan Turner) drifts back into the vampire fold and uncovers the dark truth about the bloodsuckers' plans to start a mass conversion (6 and 9 p.m. BBC America).

Psychic Investigators: Psychic sisters conclude that a police officer is the culprit in the slaying of a Pennsylvania dentist (7 p.m. Biography).

MOVIES

High School Musical: Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are two radically different teens who decide to try out for a musical. Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel also star in this 2006 TV hit (7 p.m. Disney). The 2007 sequel, "High School Musical 2," follows at 8:50 p.m.

Meet the Parents: In this 2000 comedy, Ben Stiller stars as a young man who immediately runs into trouble with his beloved's (Teri Polo) father (Robert De Niro). Blythe Danner also stars (7 p.m. TBS).

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest: In this second installment of the "Pirates" trilogy, from 2006, Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth's (Keira Knightley) wedding is interrupted by a stay in jail (8 p.m. USA).

Phantom Racer: A race car driver (Greg Evigan) returns from beyond the grave in the 2009 TV movie (9 p.m. SyFy).

RocknRolla: Gerard Butler plays a Scottish gangster involved in a scheme built on real estate and a treasured painting that passes through several hands, some quite unintentionally, in writer-director Guy Ritchie's 2008 thriller about dishonor among thieves. Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton, Idris Elba and Jeremy Piven also star (10 p.m. Cinemax).

English premier league soccer: Wigan Athletic vs. Manchester United (6:55 a.m. ESPN2).

Little League baseball: World Series Pool Play: Canada vs. Mexico (8 a.m. ESPN); Curacao vs. Venezuela (10 a.m. ESPN); Staten Island (N.Y.) vs. Warner Robins (Ga.) (Noon ABC); Japan vs. Saudi Arabia (3 p.m. ESPN2); Chula Vista (Calif.) vs. Russellville (Ky.) (5 p.m. ESPN2).

How would viewers respond if Christ presented his views on television, and he wouldn't call himself Maitreya? He presumably wouldn't even talk about the supernatural in the first place. But the way he appealed to us would be as astoundingly simple and direct as we can experience. Some people make a point of this possibility, some have barriers. Although there is a funny element, there are people who take it as serious as we do soccer. There will be no losers.
