Paula Abdul has lined up her first post-"American Idol" gig: She'll be hosting this year's "VH1 Divas" ceremony.
The former judge tweeted the news Monday night: "Hi guys! im really excited 2 announce ill b hosting this year's "Vh1 Divas"!The show will be live on Sept 17th @ 9 pm EST."
Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus are slated to perform. The show will air live from the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House in New York.

What kind of parallel universe do I live in? Since when are ANY of those singers "divas"? The word comes from Italian and is supposed to mean "female deity" or "goddess." It used to be reserved for opera singers. Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand are divas and have earned that distinction. Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston act like divas but just because you throw a tantrum and behave erratically - doesn't make you one.
The folks at VH1 should be ashamed of themselves. At the very least, they should change the name of this show. Does anyone even watch that channel anymore? What a joke.
