It's official: Kristin Cavallari joins 'The Hills'
The rumors are true: Former "Laguna Beach" star Kristin Cavallari will join the cast of "The Hills" when the series comes back with 10 new episodes this fall.
After she boasted to TMZ cameras in April that if she took the job, she'd do it do better than current star Lauren Conrad, Cavallari talked up an even bigger game to EW.com, which confirmed the news Thursday morning.
First and foremost, Cavallari still wants to act -- an episode of "CSI" might just be her biggest credit to date -- and hopes the notoriety of being a reality TV star will once again make her a hot commodity: “The goal for me is to get my fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn’t have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help.”
That means, she's essentially prepared to ditch the "reality" part to give "The Hills" the drama it needs.
“It’s a TV show. I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! And drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in, because I know what works.”
Unlike Lauren, perhaps? “I’m a completely different person than Lauren. I have a lot more energy. I’m more outgoing. I’m a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she’s not dating on the show. I’m very open to dating and finding a guy.”

finally!....she is the one who should have gotten the show from the beginning. she was always more interesting and fun to watch than LC. don't get me wrong Lauren is a nice girl, but a dull DULL lead for a reality show.

Kristin will bring the drama, no doubt about that. She'll also happily comply with whatever 'storyline' the powers that be manufacture. Forget the reality. I'm interested to see if she'll be able to this into a springboard for an acting career. Have any reality stars really transitioned to successful acting gigs from reality shows? Most seem stuck, unable to play a character different from the one on their reality show. Perhaps Kristin will be the first to make that transition work. At the very least, it should be entertaining to watch.

Kristin was pretty awful in "Laguna Beach" a total b**** to Lauren most of the time, she will never be a great as Lauren anyway, she will only try and be be better but by taking Lauren's place she has only showed she isn't good enough to get her own show, she is just taking over from someone better, "The Hills" will never be as good without Lauren and she will be sorely missed, LOVE YOU LAUREN XXXX

1. When Kristin took over Laguna Beach she made that show better. She will AGAIN make The Hills better! Whenever Kristin takes over for Lauren she does it better! 2. Kristin was offered the spin off show first. 3. Lauren got Kristin's sloppy seconds with Stephen and Brody. 4. Kristin is more entertaining. Lauren is just too dull and boring! TEAM KRISTIN!

I'm predicting a loss in audience. People who tuned in to watch Lauren's life for the past 4 years are not suddenly going to be interested in some girl Lauren knew back in high school. Lauren brought class to the show. Everyone left is trashy and fake.

I will not watch the hills, Kristin is a slutty whore who just wants fame like Spencer and Heidi.
She will do anything, because her career is down the drain. She will do anything at this point.
All the people left on the hills are fame whores. Sorry MTV wrong move...
I will always love Lauren, shes beautiful, smart, friendly and has class.

I'm an Ex-Team Kristen now that i read this interview, what a bitch! It's one thing people suspect you're a bitch but to openly admit that you are a drama-attention-hording bitch is another! Class will be lost from this show B00!
