'Dollhouse' will get a second season (updated)

Getprev-2

An interesting development at Fox, the network of secrets ("24" and "Fringe") and lies ("Lie to Me"):

Although executives are still screening pilots and finalizing the fall lineup, which will be announced to advertisers in New York City on Monday, sources say Fox has renewed "Dollhouse."

The network won't officially say so until Monday, but several sources close to the show say that the deal is done. That means the network is 3 for 3 with its new dramas. It already has renewed "Fringe" and "Lie to Me."

Created by Joss Whedon and starring Eliza Dushku, the highly anticipated series premiered in February and hasn't found an audience, but Fox is giving it another shot because only 13 episodes have aired.

Thank you, Fox. Love you lots. I'll be sure to buy the DVDs - Joss Whedon and Tim Minear give great commentaries, and I want to see the fabled 13th episode. I hope Alan Tudyk chimes in on the extras as well.

That's great news!!! :) Woo!

Wonderful! Now if we can just get Fox to renew Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I'll be happy as a pig in slop. At least on Friday nights.

Thank you, Fox! I love Dollhouse!!!!!

"Dollhouse" is a good show. Renewing it might make up just a teeny tiny bit for you canceling "Arrested Development."

But just a little.

YAY! This was my biggest worry, because I love this show! I haven't missed an episode, and I can't wait til it comes out on DVD so I can watch the 13th episode! Why didn't they end up airing it? Anyway, very excited!

Sadly, this rumor is coming from a single internet site, quoting unamed sources. I'm going to wait for an official announcement before getting excited.

Soooo happy....

I wrote about this on facebook, and I made a detailed comment about my thoughts on the whole issue on the FOX Dollhouse site. I'm so glad they listened on this one! It'd be a real shame to see this series disappear after the tremendous growth it had in its premiere season!

If they can somehow pare it with Fringe, then they can have a powerhouse bloc of programming that just doesn't only rely on American Idol or 24.

BEWARE... FOX also renewed Eliza's great series "Tru Calling" for a second season a few years ago and then cut it only after a few episodes. Fox cannot be trusted to stand behind good series. So people try not to get hurt by not allowing themselves to get too much into a show... which then dooms the series. If FOX would give them a chance, perhaps so would the people.

This is great news. There are few original shows on TV and Dollhouse is one. (Fringe is the other)

I'm all for keeping the show on. But who's making the business case that Whedon and coharts are somehow going to pull more of an audience to -Dollhouse- on Fox than they have already? After all, Whedon's built-in audience has already shown up and chimed in to keep -Dollhouse- going. Perhaps Fox is considering a time-slot change? That's certainly a good move that might help somewhat. But throwing a lot of ad dollars at -Dollhouse-, fingers-crossed that somehow a new audience is going to turn on the TV and watch it is at best wishful (& expensive) thinking. Dollhouse is a "boutique"-type show, not a "Wal-mart." You want to give -Dollhouse- 5-8 seasons, then air it on a "boutique"-type show cable/sat channel or Hulu-only. If you do advertise it, I would put your ads where the Dollhouse-audience's minds are regularly at -- Pandora, NYT, Wired, TNR, Mensa, HowStuffWorks -- and skip the TV commercial, Side-of-the-Bus crap.

Sorry, meant "cohorts" not "coharts."

Thank you FOX, I will be tuning in!!!!

fox renews dollhouse, but
nbc dumps life?

man.
What a sad time in television.

I'm not with it. Not even Liz Dushu in a tanktop coud get me through the absurd plotlines and bad acting. Nice try, Josh, but it is no FireFly.

Dollhouse is OK, I guess, but I really love Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I have only watched TSCC on regular TV once. I watched the first season on DVD rented from Blockbuster, then the second season online. I loved the fact that it was on the FOX website because I could watch it on my schedule.

After I heard TSCC was due to be canceled I started a Facebook group to help save it and within the last two weeks 500 people have joined. There are fans from all over the world and they are all shocked that FOX is threatening to cancel the show, as am I.

I hope that the executives at FOX don't think Dollhouse is an adequate substitute for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
