A&E bails out MC Hammer, orders 'Hammertime'
MC Hammer is back in prime time as the star of his own A&E reality series.
The network announced today it had ordered 11 episodes of "Hammertime," following the lives of the '90s rap star and his family, which includes his wife of 23 years and their brood of seven (children and nephews ranging in age from 3 to 21).
Hammer, nee Stanley Burrell, was most recently seen selling his gold for cash during this year's Super Bowl. He previously appeared in the original cast of "The Surreal Life."
The Hammer family currently lives in Oakland, Calif. where Hammer, in addition to child-rearing, is trying to launch a social media site and an iPhone application, runs his "social media optimized music label," performs at concerts and juggles speaking engagements.
“Each week we’ll open our home to viewers to showcase the hectic pace of our lives and our eclectic family; our real life truly is drama,” Hammer said.
3 Ball Productions Inc. will produce the series for A&E. "Hammertime" will premiere later this year.

I am so glad that Hammer is coming back. He was and is one of the most talented entertainers on the planet who got a raw deal from haters who didn't want him to succeed on the level that he had achieved. He took care of everybody and nobody had his back when he needed them. He failed where Will Smith suceeded. Will didn't care what they thought about his crossover appeal and non-hard core style and look where he is today. My advice to Hammer is to do your thing and don't focus on the haters this time. God's got your back!!

Can't wait to watch the show, but why are you saying he lives in Oakland when he doesn't?? He lives in Tracy, Ca which is no where near Oakland!

I liked the show much and loved with Hammer's family. Also by the first glance of the show I was hooked, it is nice to see him on Tv again. And I love the opener to the show. Its very catchy and I was a fan of MC Hammer however I searched to watch the videos of Mc Hammer, also I found different kind of videos like "saver time" which are evocation Hammertime :) http://www.pennysaverusa.com/savertime/ Brings back all those memories of buying cassette singles (cuz I was po') back in the early 90's...
I hope Hammer family will be on TV for long time...
