TCA Press Tour: The cruelest bite

01:37 PM PT, Jan 8 2009

Eight days into a new fitness program, we are loving WE TV for hosting a TCA lunch that was delicious, nutritious and low on calories. A lovely salad, followed by chicken and veggies, topped by a fruit plate. We are certain that the Diet Detective will not be disappointed with us today!

Who is the Diet Detective? Charles Stuart Platkin, a public health advocate who is hosting the network's new series "I Want to Save Your Life," which premieres April 25.

With the help of friends and loved ones, Platkin descends on overweight people unexpectedly to help them eat healthfully and exercise. In a clip from the premiere, Platkin forced a woman who was going to eat cake to walk for 2-1/2 hours -- the time it would take her to burn the cake's calories -- while holding the cake.

Three of the participants, who have lost a lot of weight but still need to lose more, appeared on a panel with Platkin and pleasantly told the stories of their struggles as the TV press pigged out on the aforementioned healthful lunch.

They talked. We chewed.  A little cruel, no?
