CBS anchor Katie Couric wondered if the people of Gaza were feeling hopeful now that a new U.S. president had been ushered in. CBS correspondent Allen Pizzey responded:

‘Well, Katie, here in Gaza, people haven’t really paid that much attention. They’ve been today, particularly, out in the streets, trying to get their lives back together. These are people that don’t have the inclination to or the luxury of expectations because their expectations have been dashed so many times. Just as they get things built up, they got knocked down again. They do, however, have a little bit of hope for Barack Obama. As a president, they think that he may be a little bit different.’
