Jason Priestley: Brenda Walsh’s rumored terminal illness is ‘awesome’

Thanks so much for the comment, Lee! After poking around, I discovered that the Brenda Walsh death rumor is gaining considerable traction on websites like Right TV and 90210 Insiders.

The gist? That Brenda contracts a terminal illness and kicks the bucket, making Shannen Doherty the first original cast member to be killed off on “90210.” (Noxzema girl, RIP.)

Fans are livid at the rumored story line, writing on 90210 Insiders, "so shanon doherty is coming back for 2 or 3 more and shes will die iam notready for that," and "They be stupid if they kill Bren off.She & Kelly are the only reason I watch it.And they are the ones that everyone else is watching it.Kill off Lori Loughlin.Nobody will care."

One person who wasn’t so put off by the idea, however, was Doherty’s small-screen sibling, Jason Priestley. When asked about the possibility of Brenda contracting a terminal illness, Priestley told Access Hollywood, "This is all news to me, but this is fantastic. That is going to be awesome. No they haven't given me anything yet. I don't even know if the episode is written yet, but I love all those rumors. That is juicy stuff."

Let me preface what I'm about to say by saying that this is the best 90210 blog on the web!! Now to serious matters. Since I apparently inspired this entry (that's waaaay cool), obviously I am against the whole Brenda dying idea, and I think a lot of people would be pissed off if the CW went there. On the other hand, Brenda kicking the bucket (and slowly) would certainly generate massive ratings for the CW (Collectively Wack) network.

Like many "90210" fans, (and I'm a die-hard BH90210 fan), Brenda is my favorite all-time 90210 character. Brandon is second, with Kelly, Dylan, Donna and Andrea next. Got some love for Steve too, but I always thought David was expendable, and not just expendable, but "EXPENDABLE!" the way Kevin Spacey says the word in "American Beauty," when he finds out his company is making cut backs.

Naturally, I'm pissed. But moreso I am upset because the new 90210 is sucking like two kids making out for the first time in the backseat of a car. In other words, ALOT. And I feel like this is a desperate move on the show's part to generate ratings, which is the worst reason to go with a storyline like this.

kill Kelly! Ever since she started talking like a baby in season 5, she's been driving me crazy. She used to be so much fun (during the high school years), she was sassy, and a bit slutty, and the ying to Brenda's yang. But now she's all decent and boring, and she acts like a prude... it's corny. What they should really do is get Dylan back no matter what it takes, and get him together with Brenda once and for all, thus pleasing EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER. Then Shannen can go.

The whole idea of killing off Brenda makes me furious. The fans that have been loyal deserve better...Brenda deserves better. This show needs Brenda...the viewers want Brenda. There are many characters nobody would miss at all but NOT BRENDA. Just give Shannen whatever she wants and get her back

If they kill Brenda off the show I believe, no I know that 90210 will be cancelled. There will be no second season. Why would they do that? That must be the dumbest thing I ever heard! I wish Luke would make an appearance on the show and be with Brenda. Enough of this writing that is so boring and not even worth watching. The only reason I and many others watch the show is because of Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty. I know Shannen doesn't want to be on the show that much, but DO NOT kill her off. Let there be a chance of her returning (that is if the show continues on). Shannen's character Prue was killed off on Charmed, which didn't allow any chance of her returning, so killing her off 90210 would just be ridiculous! I mean Shannen only went back on the show for her fans. All her fans will be disappointed and stop watching the show. So Killing Off Brenda = Show Being Cancelled - sorry that is not an opinion, that is a fact!! At least we have Shannen's new movie The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon coming out on December 20th and Burning Palms in which she is now filming. I guess we will just have to stick with her movies, but that shows that Shannen does have tons of fans when 90210 is cancelled after her character's death. Sorry Beverly Hills 90210 was a 90s type show, not a 2008 type show. Now we are interested in the supernatural, not teenagers who have sex or drug problems. I think Sex and the City has ended that generation

scott scanlon, played by douglas emerson, was an original cast member. he was killed in season 2.

I'm so honored that I inspired a whole blog entry. This blog gives us readers the royal treatment! LOL. Again, they can't kill of Brenda. She's the only good actress they have. Maybe they should kill of Kelly, or the grandmother, or ANY of the kids. The show's not really about them anyway. It's about the adults.

Shannon and Kelly are the only reasons I tune in to watch the show. That's why I haven't been watching!!!! Those two are the best thing about the show, they give it history. The show has to give props to what it's built on, and the dynamic between those two is the best thing on the show!!! If Bren does get sick, that better just be a vehicle to get her bro and other friends to show up and rally her to health.

don't you just hate it when they gert rid of the bet characters. Get grip 90210 writers, killing off Brenda is like pulling the plug on a TV set. There will be no 920210 if you kill off Brenda..

TO ALL THOSE DIE HARD FANS................................If it transpires the rumours are true we should all boycott 90210, if the ratings go down that'lll be enough to see the end of 90210.

Kelly and Brenda are 90210, no one else in that series really matters...it's never been about the new kids and it never will. The originals are much better and we want them to stick around.

I used to enjoy watching Priestly's and Perry's characters but given that they don't even want to make an appearance for all those devoted fans, well it would be better to kill them off in the storylines, that way do don't even have to make an appearance. stuck up people like them don't appreciate who made them famous..(it was us the viewers by tuning in)

At least the likes of Shannen came back to give something back to their viewers.

C'mon people let's start boycotting 90210 show and let the ratings drop, hit the writers wher it hurts.
