Is 'Fringe's' John Scott really dead?
One of the biggest mysteries left dangling at the end of "Fringe’s" premiere last night was the fate of Special Agent John Scott (Mark Valley), who went from being the secret love interest and FBI partner of Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) to her apparent enemy to … dead?
Well, there’s dead, and there’s really dead. And Scott, it seems, may just be mostly dead. (For those familiar with “The Princess Bride,” this makes perfect sense.) At the end of the episode, Massive Dynamic executive Nina Sharp (Blair Brown) ordered the questioning of Scott -- as his corpse lay on a stretcher before her.
Exactly what powers do these Massive Dynamic folks have? We’re not privy to the inner workings of the secretive corporation, but we do have some juicy intel. Sources tell us that Valley is a series regular on “Fringe” –- meaning we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Scott, dead or alive.

Didn't Bishop say that you could use the procedure he used with Dunham/Scott to get the description of Steig on a person that has been dead for up to 6 hours? This is what I thought she meant. She asked how long Scott had been dead--when the response was 1 hour, she ordered the questioning. Anyone else see it differently?

John Scott is obviously still alive. Remember the "re-animation" line from the premiere?

I, too, took the questioning to mean they were doing the mind-to-mind thing. They did, however, make a point of mentioning reanimation when they recounted Bishop, Sr.'s research. In my mind, this makes it a strong possibility that Massive Dynamic has perfected the art. Whether or not they use it with Scott, we'll have to wait and see.
