Hooray for the first really good challenge of the season. I must like something about uniforms because it reminded me of another one of my favorite challenges: the US Post Office uniform challenge from Season One.

Designing the outfit that the U.S. Olympic Team would wear in the opening ceremonies was a current, challenging task with a suitable amount of high-profile-ness.

It was a shame though that we didn’t get to see Apolo Ohno (at far left, with Tim Gunn), who I enjoyed very much when he was on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ model.

While there was an amazing amount of ‘Pinup Girl on the Fourth of July’ inspiration, the challenge actually did yield some good outfits. Joe actually pulled off cute sporty (it looked like something you could see kids wearing, along the Juicy model), I could see myself wearing parts of Terri’s design and Korto’s was really modern and chic, almost to the point that I worried it would be TOO chic for some of the tinier athletes.

A good challenge is necessary because it still feels like Bravo is trying to stuff these contestants down our throats. I noticed tonight that it seems like all the women, at least, have had their hair and makeup done and somewhat dramatically--did you see how beautiful Kenley looked without her red lipstick? I don’t feel like I’m watching real people, except Daniel, who totally does remind me of some boarding school brats I met in college. On that note, to sort-of-quote ‘Mean Girls,’ Bravo needs to stop trying to make Blayne happen. He’s like Paris Hilton--so convinced of of his own adorableness that he’s intolerable. Yes, we get it, you like being tan. It’s not cute. And that ‘heck yeah’ of his was obviously stolen from Christian Siriano. And frankly I think he was pretending when he was talking about how isn’t familiar with nor a big fan of the Beatles. I will say however that in fairness his challenge outfit was kind of cute.
