Does a Ted-Stella engagement on 'Mother' have a final ring to it?

03:44 PM PT, Aug 14 2008

As Barney Stinson might say, "This is AWWWWWESOME!"

Or is it?

We hear wedding bells are ringing on the set of "How I Met Your Mother."  At the end of last season, Ted (Josh Radnor) proposed to his girlfriend, Stella (Sarah Chalke). We've been waiting on pins and needles to find out if she accepts, because then that would mean that SHE IS THE MOTHER!

Well, we now know that a wedding date has been set! Ted and his blushing bride are to exchange vows in an October episode of the CBS comedy, according to an in-the-know little birdie.

Will they actually say "I do"? Now that is the question, isn't it? Because wouldn't that signal the end of the series when the season has just begun? And let us not forget what CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler said in July. She wasn't lying to us, was she?

Who will suit up and ruin the whole thing? Who knows. But one other thing we do know is that Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) will have already declared his love by this episode.

Who knew October was the new February?

No, it doesn't.

I think they'll get married & then break up within a year or so. Unfortunately lots of young marriages don't last more than a couple years, particularly ones where the decision is hurried...

Can't wait for the show to come back!!!! It's gonna be "Legend - ....wait for it"

Now that would be tricky. They get married but Stella is not the mother.

Yeah, even if she accepts that doesn't mean she's the mother. I don't think she is. I hope she isn't.

Two bucks says it's not Ted. Robin's citizenship is up in the air and Barney answers the call of duty with a phony wedding to win her heart.

Stella is terrible. I hope they get her off the show and fast.

The Barney - Robin plot line is FAR more inteersting.

Maybe they'll get married, then kill her off.

As others have said, her saying yes and even getting married does NOT mean she's the mother. The fact is, she makes no sense as the father. (For numerous reasons, one of which is the umbrella that had no involvement in their meeting.) Spoilers say that she does accept his proposal. But in the first episode, I think, Ted puts her through a test to see if they really are meant to be.... Regardless, she asked Ted to a wedding that would be in October.. I'm guessing that's what this is..... I sure hope she's not the mother! It'd be too much of a stretch at this point, and I agree with Frogdice that I don't like her.....

I kinda want Stella to be the mother and I think that Ted's daughter's name is Lucy. I mean look at her she looks like she would be called Lucy. But the whole thing with Barney and Robin is more intersting plus it is just going to start to heat up so they couldn't reveal the mother so soon after Barney admits to loving Robin. Well they could......................
