“I’m planning on going to Broadway,” announced recently eliminated “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant Gev Manoukian during a conference call with the media this morning. It wasn’t really what we expected to hear from the notorious break-dancer, but he repeated the comment numerous times over the course of the call, so he must have been serious. When asked what he had learned over the course of the competition, Gev replied, “I’ve learned that I’m actually not as bad as I thought in ballroom and Broadway.” Here are some other comments from Gev.

On working with choreographer Nigel Lythgoe:

“He kinda took me by surprise … he was very calm and confident … he was awesome.”

On break-dancing injuries:

“I’ve never had a break-dancing injury, actually. It’s kinda weird, ‘cause I throw myself everywhere.”

On his dream dance job:

“I would love to be in something like ‘Grease’ or ‘West Side Story.’ Or ‘The Lion King!’ Oof! That would be awesome!”

On elimination nights:

“We kind of have the mindset that there’s a chance we’re gonna get voted off …. It was a shock for me. It was very unexpected, but I felt like I was somewhat ready for it … I’m just very glad, blessed I did [the show], and now I get to go on a tour.”

On break-dancing on ice (Yes, seriously.):

“I’m planning on taking that a little farther. My dad’s a figure skater, so hopefully I get to do a show with him sometime.”

On losing partner Courtney Galiano:

“I definitely missed her … we really got used to each other. We kinda developed a relationship, and now we switched partners … and her and Chelsie [Hightower] are very different.”

On Wednesday’s show:

“I thought I could have done a lot better with jive, and I had a little glitch in my solo.”

On new partner Chelsie:

“She’s really focused. She’s a hard, hard worker … I think she’s gonna do really well. I’m really excited for her.”

On his plans for the immediate future:

“I think I got two weeks [off]. Something like that. The first week I’m just gonna be in my bed.”
