Showtime might just have a shiny new hit on its hands.

Monday’s premiere of the British sex comedy ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ scored nearly 1 million viewers at 10:30 p.m., giving the cable network its biggest premiere in four years. Its top-rated series, the serial killer drama ‘Dexter,’ premiered in 2006 to 604,000.

‘Diary’ follows the escapades of Hannah Baxter, a.k.a. Belle (Billie Piper), a 27-year-old grad student who moonlights as a high-class escort in London. Reviews of the show have ranged from raves to rants.
