Upfronts: NBC asks, Are you 'Experienced'?

May 8, 2008 | 10:42 am

On Monday, Madison Avenue advertising executives and the TV press corps will swap their annual visit to Radio City Musical Hall for "The NBC Universal Experience" at Rockefeller Center.

The "NBC Universal Experience" has a nice ring to it, huh? Kinda sounds like a new ride at Universal Studios. But it's not.

It's the event NBC is hosting instead of staging a fancy upfront presentation at Radio City because this year executives decided to get ahead of the pack and announce the network's fall schedule in April. With no news left to announce, the company instead is going to show off its assets.

How? It's all very hush-hush. But word has it that multimedia stations will showcase all of the company's properties, including cable channels USA, Sci Fi, Bravo, MSNBC and CNBC, Telemundo, TV and movie studios and, of course, theme parks.

Once guests have reached NBC Universal enlightenment, they will venture into a cocktail party. And you bet we will share our experience.

In the meantime, here's a reminder of the schedule NBC announced last month.
