What will and won't happen on Monday's "Gossip Girl"

06:40 PM PT, Apr 18 2008

T-minus 3 more days until "Gossip Girl’s" triumphant return, and the blogs have been buzzing with predictions and rumors about Monday’s episode and beyond. Last month, TV Guide hinted that a male character will come out of the closet. Despite Chace Crawford’s recent off-screen dalliances with JC Chasez, my money is on Serena’s little bro Eric — remember the suicide attempt? Monday’s episode won’t out anyone just yet — the big reveal will take place on May 5.

Also not happening on Monday is Michelle Trachtenberg’s debut as bad-girl Georgina Sparks. She’ll rear her fresh-from-rehab head on the April 28 episode and will stick around just in time for May sweeps.

So what is happening on Monday’s episode, entitled "The Blair Bitch Project"? From the clips floating around on YouTube, Serena suggests that in order for Blair to regain her throne as Queen B, she must be nice. Nice? But she’s Blair -- her brutal honesty is part of her charm! I think half the fun of this episode will be watching Blair’s scowl (and headbands) attempt to loosen in order to win her frenemies back.

Missing from Blair’s old posse will be Asian sidekick Kati Farkas. Actress Nan Zhang reportedly left the show to attend college, not because Leighton Meester had her booted. In her place will be a new girl, who, CW folks tell me, "joins the crew under very typical, but actually funny, 'Gossip Girl ' circumstances." Hmm. Whatever happens, get that TiVo ready or pay really close attention because you won’t be able to re-watch the episode online.

What do you think will happen on Monday’s episode?

So glad the show is coming back. Check out Fancast which has a ton of GG stuff, including the video of those steamy promos that were so controversial, and an interview with Lisa Loeb, who reveals she is a fan of the show and will be playing herself in an upcoming episode.
