'The Biggest Loser' Winner: It's Ali Vincent's time
Ali bested the boys -- and conventional wisdom -- to become the very first female to proudly call herself
"The Biggest Loser."
Fans had a big say in the outcome of tonight's live finale on NBC: They voted online to decide whether Mark or Roger should be the third finalist to compete for the prize along with Ali and Kelly. The thinking going into the evening was that a victory for Roger -- the former football player who started the game at 363 lbs. -- would mean defeat for Ali because Roger still had so much weight to lose.
But conventional wisdom was dead wrong.
Roger reached the finals, but conceded that he'd hit a plateau when he and the other contestants left "The Biggest Loser" ranch and continued to work on their own at home in advance of tonight's final weigh-in. In all, he lost 164 lbs., or 45.18% of his body weight.
Ali, too, conceded some challenges -- including late-night visits to the freezer for a frozen yogurt fix.
But in the end, her "warrior mentality" -- dating back to her days as a championship synchronized swimmer -- served her well. Ali entered the game at 234 lbs. Looking trim, toned and plenty confident, she needed to lose only 105 lbs. to upset Roger -- and she handily passed that benchmark as she weighed in at 122 lbs. In all, she lost 112 lbs., or 47.86% of her body weight.
And there's another number staring back at Ali: She takes home $250,000 for her troubles.
The other finalist was Kelly, a nurse whose struggle with obesity prevented her from having children. She started at 271 and lost 109 lbs.
Bernie took home $100,000 for being the "Biggest Loser" among the contestants who were eliminated from the ranch, but continued to lose weight at home, on their own.
It's too soon to say whether Ali's victory will quell criticism that the NBC reality show is biased in favor of men, who seem to lose weight so much more easily than the women. Some have questioned whether the show should create a second category -- so that one woman and one man can take home the title each season.
Jillian Michaels, Ali's trainer, has dismissed that notion, saying it would be a cheap victory. Prior to Ali's weigh-in, she offered this message for women struggling to lose weight: "Make impossible your favorite word. Invite the challenge."

I just want to say I am tremendously excited. I have been waiting 5 years to see a woman win "The Biggest Loser". Ali congradulations for a fantastic result. I know the work you had to go through to get where you are today.
I am inspired to continue on my quest. You are truly motivational.
CONGRADULATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am excited for Bernie and Ali, but I so wanted Kellie to win. She is so an inspiration to all of us at my house that watched the show. I can honestly say that she is the reason we watched the "WHOLE" season instead every other week to see where everybody was.
Roger was awesome too.........

Why wasn't Paul at the final show? I wish the show would have addressed him!
Posted by: Melissa | April 16, 2008 at 07:47 AM
I am happy for Ali's win, but she lost the majority of her weight at home, not on the ranch. There for Roger was the biggest loser from the Ranch.
Posted by: sherry | April 16, 2008 at 07:50 AM
Melissa,
They did address Paul last night. It was mentioned that he was sick and was not able to be at the finale. They mentioned that at the beginning.
Posted by: Shannon | April 16, 2008 at 08:02 AM
Congratulations to Ali! She has a great attitude. I appreciate Roger's southern hospitality towards everyone, he is a gentleman. I hope that all the contestants continue to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
Posted by: Rochelle | April 16, 2008 at 08:03 AM
The show did address Paul. They said he was sick and too ill to travel.
Posted by: Carol | April 16, 2008 at 08:06 AM
What happened to Kelly's partner for the finales? Did he not have the dicipline after he left the ranch?
Posted by: Tony Rago | April 16, 2008 at 08:16 AM
They did address Paul. Allison said that he was too sick to make the trip for the finale, but he was at home cheering for Kelly.

I loved watching the Biggest loser
How did Ali and Kelli lose 11 and 13lbs in one week especially towards the end of this..Do you have to exercise 24 hrs a day? I wish I could do that..
Posted by: hollie | April 16, 2008 at 08:18 AM
not that i didn't want a woman to win. I did but it just seemed like they hyped this whole season and the whole finale for woman winner. Makes me wonder if she didn't get some extra help along the way for the win. I found it very hard to believe that in her last week on the ranch being so small already - that she had lost 11lbs. That made me think the fix was in. They needed a woman winner to satisfy women viewers. It just seemed all a little to coincidental. Everything fell so perfectly into place for a woman winner. I knew going in that a woman would win.

Congratulations to Ali! Kudos out to Kelly, Roger and Mark as well for making it to the final four. Let's not forget Bernie! He was one of my favorites from the beginning. Thank you for putting your weight loss struggles out there for all of America to see. You are all a true inspiration to the viewing audience!! By the way, congrats to Curtis, health insurance is such an important part of the American dream. May we all continue toward a healthier, happier life. Impossible is now going to be one of my favorite words!
Posted by: Nancy | April 16, 2008 at 08:52 AM
Personally, I think the fix was in right from the start... both for Ali and Bernie. They wanted a girl to win right from the start, so they set it up for Ali to come back in, and then manipulated it week by week to ensure that she would never be in a position where she could potentially voted off. No way she lost that much weight each week!! You could clearly see it. it was pretty obvious that she was going to win it when she came back. Every clip they played of her had her saying how she was going to win it..
And really, who can trust a scale that goes up, down, up, down.. someone is manipulating it so that the people at NBC and BL make it more interesting and controversial.
I seriously doubt that Roger won the voting, and I think he did lose more percentage of weight than Ali, but theye played with his number on the scale and played with hers as well. I seriously doubt that Bernie lost more than Mark did also, but Bernie was more likeable so they made sure that he won.. by one pound!
I'm disallusioned by the show because of all the manipulation and deciept.. they think people are too niave and gullible to see it.. or they don't care. I will not watch it again.

Am I the only person who finds it strange that people are losing 150 pounds in four and a half monthes? I mean without some sort of help medicinal help it would seem impossible. I know that they are working out eight, ten hours a day but you are talking about people who are not all twenty years old. Is it just me?

Congrats Ali,
You are my hero! She has truly inspired me in my goal to lose weight. Good luck to everyone who worked hard in their journey to losing weight and keeping it off, because it is a life change that will make a difference.

Everyone wins who participates in the BL show. Did you see how much happier all of them were to lose the weight they did! The outcome isn't as important as what it does for their self esteem and how they inspire others. Congratulations to all the winners and contestants! This is the only reality show worth watching!

I was reading the comments and was saddened to see that people thought the show was geared towards a women winning. I think you are missing the whole purpose of the show it is to teach people to eat health and exercise. This is the problem with this country..........everybody looks at the negitive first!!!!!!!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE ON THE SHOW! YOU ARE ALL WINNERS IN MY EYES!
Posted by: Sandy | April 16, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Ali looks amazing! It's about time that a woman won! It's a sweet victory.
Ali lost 112 pounds. 33 of that was lost at home, so yes, she is the biggest loser of the ranch.
And if it had been left to the girls for a final vote, Roger wouldn't have made it to the finale. It would have been Mark.
Posted by: Mia | April 16, 2008 at 11:11 AM
I read that the weigh-in scale is not a real scale; they just use that for effect. And obviously, the numbers going up and down is completely fake, but meant to remind people of their own shifting on the bathroom scale to get a lower number. What you have to remember is that these people are doing nothing but working out, watching their diet, and working on the emotional problems that led them to self-medicate with food for most of every day of that six months. It's totally unrealistic to expect to lose that kind of weight so quickly in the real world, since most people can't devote 8 or more hours per day to addressing their weight problem. However, the show is inspirational and demonstrates what you can do with a lot of hard work, perseverance, and changing bad habits. The other aspect is that most of these people are sedentary and have terrible eating habits when they start. They lose a ton of weight quickly because they are on a restricted number of calories, drinking only water (no more soda), and moving much, much more than they ever have in their lives. Roger was especially impressive to me, since he consistently put up such huge numbers every single week.

GIRL POWER! I was thrilled that Ali won! She deserved it, she kicked ass! I loved Mark and wished that more people would've voted for him to stay, but that was not to be. I was not a fan of Roger, he liked to get his digs in and was egotistical. Do I think this was rigged, heck no. The people that say so are just ticked off that a WOMAN finally won, fair and square. I'm also thrilled that Bernie won the money too, although......I would've been even more thrilled had Mark won it, he deft won me over, I was a HUGE fan! Missing it by one lb...that had to suck. But he looks awesome. This was my first season to watch and it was the couple theme that drew me in. I laughed, I cried, I got mad........I wished that Jillian would've kicked ass more with her team like Bob did, but in the end she did....and Ali got it!
Pride........NOT! GIRL POWER ROCKS!!!

The competitors had 15 weeks at the ranch and an additional 5 or 6 weeks at home. That's either 20 or 21 weeks (140-147days). Someone was wondering if it is possible or probable that obese people working out 8 hours a day for 140-147 days could lose 150 pounds in that time period. The answer is a resounding YES!
Others thought a fix must be in because Ali kept saying she was going to win. How about Ali is a confident competitor and knows how to set and achieve goals. She had what she needed: the drive, the focus, the atheticism, a high enough weight at the start and no men with the same.
To all detractors - get a life!

I love to hate this show, it is a great motivational tool for some but it, truly, is VERY unrealistic. Any diet plan that promotes a 12 or 15 pound weight loss in 1 WEEK is unhealthy and should not be promoted on TV. Any dietician will tell you that this is not a healthy way to lose weight, and it is not physically possible to lose 12 or 15 pounds of "fat" in a week.
I would just hate for someone struggling with weight to see this show and become dissapointed when they were unable to achieve the same results.
Posted by: Allison | April 16, 2008 at 12:06 PM
Yeah Ali! !!! Your focus and determination paid off and is helping motivate all of us.
Those who would scream foul or fix with their words, can't take anything away from what these contestants have accomplished. They set goals, stayed focused, and worked so very hard. They denied themselves immediate gratification, dealt with their baggage and in the end they all won the prize of a stronger healthier body to reclaim their lives.
The money issue is so huge to some but it is not the priority win here for any of these people. Bless you guys and all the off camera Biggest Loser America folks too.

I am so pround of Ali - way to go, girl. But also, I want to congratulate Kelly. As I watched the show, I saw much more of a transformation from the inside for Kelly. Her attitude went from "I can't keep up with these guys" to pushing herself so hard anyway for her own benefit. I think the "triathlon" in Sydney was a turning point for her self-esteem. She did it, and believe me, triathlons are HARD - and they don't include 44 flights of stairs at the end! She didn't stop, she kept going, and she DID IT! Despite the fact she was at the end of the show with three super-competitors, she did HER best, and look at her now. Keep it up, Kelly - you are truly an inspiration, especially for those of us who don't have the crazy competitive drive. But also, way to go, everyone. Hopefully, the inspiration you provide will help the rest of us who are struggling at home with weight issues!

COngrats to all...you all look great! But my question...where did the sagginess go? I noticed kelly had some but ali had none? I lost weight worked out too but the fat is still there? Just wondering. I WANT TO BE ON THE SHOW~~~~~~~~
Posted by: Linnie | April 16, 2008 at 01:22 PM
I almost quit watching the show a few weeks ago. I was so glad when Mark got voted off the first time, then when he came back that ended it for me, but my roommate still watched. I got sick and tired of them showing Mark's crying jags! I'm sure he was exhausted, but enough is enough!!
I didn't think the girls had a chance, but Congratulations Ali & Kelly for proving me wrong!
GOOD JOB!!

If you're severely overweight, losing that much weight in the 6 months they were given is pretty reasonable, especially when you consider at the ranch they were often working out 8-10 hours a day (according to Jillian). If you say they're burning 400 calories an hour during their exercise, in a ten hour workout day that is 4000 calories, 500 calories over the amount to lose a pound! Is that feasable for someone who can't dedicate that much time to exercise, doesn't have a top notch trainer, and doesn't have their nutrition figured out for them...maybe not, but it is true that all these people were given every advantage to lose those pounds, they're not popping pills to lose the pounds, they are doing it the right way. And the last weigh-in before the finale was over 2 weeks, not one, for anyone that thinks they lost double digits their final week.

Everyone from SoCal will be happy to know that the frozen yogurt in Ali's freezer was none other than Golden Spoon !!!!!!

The Biggest Loser has consistently chosen challenges that are more suited for the males to win (i.e., the last one of running and carrying a flag up a hill). Their strength, their size, and their stride, alone, precludes any of the females from having any chance to win. They should incorporate more challenges that are oriented around nutrition knowledge/choices, utilizing core strenght/balance skills, and encouraging women to feel more like there is a realistic opportunity to compete and win.
What needs to STOP... is the in-fighting between teams that the producers THINK make for good ratings. Of all my peers, that is the BIGGEST turn off in watching the program. Many will mention changing the channel when the bickering commences.

What's wrong with people? Can't anybody be happy for anybody anymore? The fix is in...nobody can lose that much weight...give me a break - if you eat right and exercise your brains out - you're going to lose weight - didn't you people see the amount of sweat that was pouring out of those people??? Just lose your ***ing egos and be happy for Ali and everybody else that took charge of their lives and lost all those pounds. I'm willing to bet that everybody that thinks the fix is in and that NBC and The Biggest Loser had planned from the start of this season that a woman would win and that Bernie was definitely going to win "by one pound" because he was so likeable is grossly overweight and has their hand on the clicker or their butt on their computer chair and sits in their car and doesn't even walk into a fast food restaurant ---- it's drive through all the way!!! I'm definitely sensing the green-eyed monster is doing all the negative talking here people - so take a look in the mirror and put down the Ben & Jerry's before you start knocking those people - you know who you are - ever heard of a gym????

Ive read some of the comments and I wanted to kinda give my 2 cents and hopefully it was sink in-
First off- THE SCALE ON THE SHOW IS NOT REAL who knows of a scale that goes up and down like that???
Its just a prop people- they are weighed in before each show by the doctors and its written down- then for “show” they keep you guessing with different numbers.
Also- you are right into thinking that it could be “fixed” BUT from the start ali had the drive to win it- and they “nbc” rode that horse all the way in- they knew she had enough drive where if they kept shooting her say “ I will be the next biggest loser” then just in case she won, they would have plenty of footage of her saying it.
And what pissed me off season after season is that the women would just give up. Half of them ( like this season) seriously could have beaten Bernie- but they didn’t. The girl in the green ( sorry don’t know names) should have could have lost soooo much more weight- as for the young 20 something’s- seriously they could have easily been up there with Ali.
You guys need to think- everyone who goes on this show- has taken time off from their jobs- they are on a ranch with 2 trainers a 24 hour gym open to them, food given to them prepared for them in the exact calorie amount, working out 8 hours a day… probably even more!
So I hate people saying “ how can they lose 11 pounds in a week? “- hell anyone can with all of that by their side 24 hours a day!!!
And then when they get off the show- half of them im sure still were out of work so they got to work out all day!!! In the real world obviously it takes us weeks to lose 5 pounds, but we all work, some don’t have gyms some do some can afford trainers, others cant- what I loved was when bob said simply- take it day by day. He knows us “ viewers” of biggest loser cant do it in just the amount of a few months- obviously they could have cause they were on a tv show!
So with that said- I don’t think ali was “helped” in any way- most of those women should have given it as much as she has- she proved with a lot of drive- it can be done- women- don’t let those words of “ men lose it faster and more weight” screw that- that’s just to make us feel better- it takes hard work and eating right, period!!!
Posted by: maria | April 16, 2008 at 03:13 PM
I watched every week. I think Ali and Mark shouldn't have been in the finals, They were dropped on the biggest loser. Kelly and Roger went the distance and stay till the end. Ali and Mark got a second chance.. "Not Far" The show didn't play fare- Kelly is the winner in my Eye's, or Roger for losing 164'.. I won't be watching next season. You Cheated the real winner out of their price, $250,000
Posted by: Athena | April 16, 2008 at 03:59 PM
I think like some of the others on their comments...I do not believe that Ali should have been brought back and where did the fat go that should be hanging for as big as she was. And Kelly looks like a person should look that would have lost that much weight. Now for the scales, I do not believe the scale is right either. And further more everytime I have been on a scale at weight watchers or a dr's office they tell you to stand still and not be moving around. That makes sense as the scale is not going to weigh you right if you are moving. Dah.....But Kelly and Roger are the big winners to me. But I am happy for all for all of them.
God bless anyone that has the courage to keep going.. I must say I do not like Jillian's filthy mouth. They have to bleep her to much. I personally would not take it and I would have to leave... You get no where by talking to people like that. And I think more than wanting the people to lose the weight she wanted to win... Plain and simple.

Its not how much weight they lost, its the amount of body fat. I really thought that
Mark, Roger and Alli looked pretty skeletor towards the end of the show. I think they
lost way too much weight, especially Mark, he looked pretty bad.
Posted by: sarra | April 16, 2008 at 05:24 PM
Really, where did the sagging skin go? Will working out that much tighten the skin? Is it all the training with weights?
Posted by: Sue | April 16, 2008 at 05:32 PM
good for ali and bernie they won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: maria | April 16, 2008 at 05:45 PM
Say what you will about Mark. I started out not caring for Mark but he grew on me. He was domineering, bossy and mean in the beginning. If this was a competition of who was transformed most internally, he would truly be the winner, hands down. Only real change can make you humble and see life in a different light.
I wish Kelly would have won and she very well could have if she could've lost just a bit more weight. But hat off to Ali for she truly had the drive. I didn't like how she straddled the fence when coming back to the ranch. It was a game so what did she expect people were going to do but try to vote her and her mother off, and she held that against people on the black team. But gotta give her credit, she truly transformed herself and deserved that title.
Posted by: lmy | April 16, 2008 at 06:39 PM
WOW! If a man had won the show most of the comments above would not even had been posted. Thought the year was 2008 not 1958. It is too bad that no matter how much a woman proves, as Ali did here, that people have to accuse the show of fixing it so that she would win. I myself am inspired by her and was prior to her winning. She is one of the first women contestants that kicked butt and made no excuses. Kelly also inspired me as I am more her age and I am praying that, while I may not lose weight as fast as those on the show, I can be as focused and driven as both of them. Congradulations to all the contestants that were able to put themselves in humbling situations on TV and change their lives.

Come on people. I can't believe some of you don't believe Ali really won, that it was fixed. I mean look at the girl. She's freakin 122 pounds! She totally beat everybody. I doubt it was fixed, even if they wanted a girl winner, nobody else did as well as Ali when it came to losing weight. Her body fat percentage is waaay low.
Posted by: lily | April 16, 2008 at 07:39 PM
Ali CONGRADULATION for winning the biggest female loser. I am so proud of you. I have been wating for five years to see a girl win. You have work so hard to lose all those weight. you deserve the money. You have been my hero.

Finally!!! A woman winner....Goes to show if one really puts their mind to it...they can doit! However you can't compare a man's metabolism with a woman's, it's like comparing apples with oranges. The Biggest Loser Show has to come out with a season for both men and women competing for the title for each sex... why not? Make it more fair and game.
Posted by: lulu | April 16, 2008 at 10:01 PM
i can't believe some of these comments. "i won't ever watch the show again"..."jillian's too vulgar"..."it was fixed"... "ali didn't lose that weight"..."the scale isn't real"...
Jillian's gotta be tough, it makes you WANT to do it. if she tells you baby voiced "oh its okay you tried your best", you wouldn't get HALF as far as you would the other way.
How could ali NOT have lost the weight? What, because she's the first woman winner means its fixed? NO. Apparently nobody believes in the power that women hold anymore. WE ARE STRONG, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS and its people like that, that criticize us, that make us feel like crap, like we're fat and ugly.
so what if the scale isn't real? its a tv show for christs sake. get over it. half of the women in america don't have real boobs, but do the men complain? no.
I'm so proud of ali, she had the motivation, the determination, and the willpower to carry on through it all. i don't care if she got sent home then came back, she still lost the weight, didn't she? either way she would have went home with SOME money. She would have won the at home competition for the 100k. She makes me actually want to go out and do something with my life rather than sit around all day. GO ALI!!!

Frankly...I thought it stunk that ALL of a sudden AMERICA was allowed to vote!! I thought for sure this would mean Roger would win... once again showing male favortism and dominance! SO...I didn't watch the finale much to my dismay! What a shock I got the next day when I heard Ali won!
Fixed? Maybe. They may have manipulated the numbers each week BUT when all is said and done Ali had the highest percentage of weight loss. Maybe she had plastic surgery maybe she didn't. 90% of HOLLYWOOD does so I guess mainstream America is starting to follow suit.
In the end I felt sorry for Mark's brother who gave up the 10K. I hope he gets compensated some other way.

As a personal trainer who has lost over 70 pounds myself, I congratulate all those on The Biggest Loser! You are an inspiration...keep up with your health!
To other viewers, remember, the contestants have not only excellent motivated trainers; they also have doctors who monitor their condition, professional nutritionists who are not putting them on fad diets (encouraging them to get ENOUGH calories) and an awesome gym at their disposal. I'm green-eyed...lol!
The only part of the program that bothers me is when individuals do not lose weight, they are not (to my knowledge) informed if they are eating properly, getting enough water and sleep, they can still hit a plateau. It is their body's time to adjust and catch up.

For all of you skeptics out there, why don't you try SWEATING for 4-6 hours per day and see what happens.... a stroll around the block isn't going to do it, people.... the contestants are working out HARD and LONG and yes, it causes massive, incredible weight loss. When you are that heavy, you need 10,000 calories/day just to stay at that high weight. Try dropping that to a normal 2,000/day and you are losing 2pounds per day from calories alone!!! I think people do not want to believe this is real, because they are too afraid to admit to themselves that they are too lazy to make the same commitment. There must be some secret reason that "they" can lose weight, and not me. WRONG!

AWW, I wanted Kelly so bad to Win. She tried so hard to keep up with everyone during chalenges. Mark already won way too much. he didnt need to win anything else. Ali lost a lot of weight and looks good but she was voted out. they never should have let her or mark back. That wasnt fair for the ones that made it through getting voted out each week. they got cheated out of there chance to win big. Ali should have only won the at home chalenge. i hate that she won. it was Roger and Kelli that should have been in the finals.
Roger was fun to watch and kelly was a true truper, my hats off to her!
good luck kelly on your future & family, i hope you get the chance to have a baby. dont give up, miricales do happen trust me, my first child was @ 42 Yrs.

Correction: Jillian should not get full credit for Ali's transformation.
Bob deserves credit also and more importantly Ali lost on her own.
Do I think Ali or Mark should have gotten to come back after getting kicked off - No
Do I think it was perhaps rigged - oh maybe a little.
Did anyone else notice that the host Alison clothing color gave you a hint at who was going to win that night?
Will I watch the next one - I'm not sure. I love to see people getting healthy and losing weight, but do I want to watch another season of Jillian bad mouthing and putting down the contestants who aren't on "her team" or trying to sabotage the other teams. As a trainer she should have wanted to help everyone. Jillian is just evil.

I am glad that all of them lost ALL of the weight they did but did it seem liked they rushed ali's weigh in a little too much!! I felt like everyone else got more time to soak it in but all of a sudden for ali it was okay you're the winner see you all next year?!?!?!?

Congratulations Ali on this great victory!!! You served as a great inspiration to me and my family!! You are the reason I stayed glued to this show every week!! Great job to everyone in this job for all of the weight loss!

I'm reallly happy for Ali, but I so wanted my girl Kellie to win. she seems like such a sweetheart. She did a great job losing all that weight and she looks FANTASTIC! Yay for Kellie!!!!!!!

To WDH, posting April 16th 8:58 AM. You are out of your mind. Ali worked her *** off. I don't think NBC worked out for her. She put the time in and it paid off. As far as Bernie being like-able, you are right about that. America saw a young man that knew how to treat people, wasn't a sore loser and new what it takes to be a winner.
I know first hand that Bernie did everything he could to win. He worked out 3 times a day, when he could. He ate right and did everything Jillian trained him to do. For you to make this bitter accusacion that the fix was on, because your favorites didn't win, is ridiculous. Nothing against Mark, but he weighed 2 pounds more than Bernie when they started, and is 5 inches taller than Bernie. That makes a big difference in weight lose. Mark did a great job, but Bernie beat him fair and square. I'm sure he would be the first to tell you that himself. Ali and Bernie are true winners and they showed everyone how to win with class and dignity.

I have become such a big fan of this show. It is inspirational, educational and downright fun to watch each week. I find myself rooting for each and every one of them and in the end they are all winners. They all seem to come into this for very similar reasons. They want to live a happier, healthier life for themselves and those they love. I wish them all well. I wish for Paul a speedy recovery and a re-newed confidence in himself to achieve the goal of a healthier approach to his life. He obviously has such a great love for others as was evident in his regard to Kelly. Paul, I hope you can turn some of that onto yourself. You are worthy of that same love. Take care of yourself. To all the contestants, thank you for the example you set. All the best to you.

i personally would like to see the bigger loser show people that are employed trying to work out. it is feasible that is you work out 4 to 6 hours a day of course you can lose that weight but we are in a real world and we have to work and take care of kids. We all would love to lose weight for health and for beauty . The members on the cast have a doctor watching their every m ove so they wont' get sued and food is planned for you. You are not paying rent there your job is to lose weight and if you didn't lose weight after all that you need to go home. I don't think they should have brought ali back but i am still proud of her and i am very glad bernie won he was a true spirit. I myself am trying to lose weight no one cooks for me and a doctor is not on call. I may get in 1 1/2 hours of work out but that is not every single day as i would like. If we all change our habits we can be big losers as well but Nbc really needds to do a show with real people.

I am literally laughing at this notion that this was somehow a fix. If there was any fix going on, it was NBC doing everything it could get make sure one of Bob's people, and not Jillians, would win this year. First there was the escalator competition, which he was bound to win, and then instead of simply getting first choice, he got to choose his ENTIRE TEAM at that point, leaving her with the people he felt were least likely to win; he not only had a break, he had the whole farm. And he didn't let loyalty stop him from choosing ALL the large men at that point. Then, when that didn't pan out as expected, NBC let the public choose who would remain in the game, increasing the chance that the biggest threat would not be removed. They didn't know who the public would vote for, but they were 100% sure Roger would be off otherwise, so why not give it a shot? And after all that, what happens? Jillian's person wins, anyway. With Bernie, that's two more wins for Jillian. I'm not saying Jillian is a better trainer, I'm just saying NBC would prefer she not win this every single time; they made that abundantly clear this year. As hard as these folks worked, though, they are all winners, in my mind, and I'm very happy for them all.

I agree that all of the people who appeared on this show were winners. They were each happy with the weight they shed, and the change in their perspectives about living their lives. Recognizing you CAN do something about it is a BIG deal.
ok, some people seem to be missing some info. First, even if a person is trying to lose weight, he/she is supposed to eat enough calories to support RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate), which is basically what you need if you did nothing else but sit and breathe. That is about 1200-2000 calories (depends on a few factors). Second, any extra calories you work off beyond that minimum is going to be reflected in reduced weight. Period. So, third, if someone works out for 8 hours per day, 6 days in a week, at levels consistently above their RMR calories they take in, the body needs to get its fuel from somewhere, and that comes from the body itself = weight loss. And fourth -- yes, if you were to exercise (and build your muscles while losing the fat), your chances are better that you won’t end up with flabby excess skin. Think “core” = the muscles that support your torso. They actually wrap around your body, and when they are made stronger, they help pull everything in and tight.

Two things.
1. Congratulations, Ali! You worked hard, you were persistent AND consistent, even when you were not at the ranch! You deserved to win. You are my inspiration and a role model for many!
2. For all the whiners and negative people out there, please get off the chair you are sitting on, stop eating the potato chips and drinking sodas, workout at home or at the gym, and come back here and apologize to Ali for the ignorant comments you've made about her winning being fixed! So, what do you think she did to get that body she has now? Or maybe you believe it's special effects from Hollywood? Photoshop maybe. Get a life! A healthy one, I may add!

You wrote on 4/16/08 that Ali lost most of her weight at home. Do you realize what a disadvantage that was for Ali. At the ranch she had to only focus on losing weigh, had her personal trainer, support from other contestant and was eating health. Imagine at home the temptations to get off track on her diet, not having Jillian at her side. Bottom line is that it would be much easier for contestants to stay on track on the ranch VS at home. As you probably know by now i am one of Ali's biggest fans. Ali deserved to be the 1ST FEMALE BIGGEST LOSER, sorry you don't feel the same!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad for Ali and look forward to next season.
The one thing that I wish would change is Jillian's potty mouth.

U knw what?, whether people get exited, angry or mad about how the show ran or ended, we should all remember one thing. The owners of ths shw r in 4 busines n they will make sure that the show wins popularity out there. I gues they noticed that the are on the verge of losing the female viwer therefore they made show that, to regain her intrest on the show, a woman MUST win this time. Dont get me wrong, i,m not sayn that women are not capable of wining, what i,m sayin is that the producers of this shows are in for business and they are playin their cards rite. CREATING A BALANCE. Trust me, if u were on thier shows u might have done the same thing. HA HA HA! No oofence.
