Last words: Four fallen Idols say goodbye

04:28 PM PT, Mar 7 2008

Img_2950 In a conference call with the media this afternoon, the four most recently eliminated "American Idol" contestants were given a chance to say goodbye, thank their fans, and experience their humiliations anew.  How did Luke feel about being called "girly"?  What did Danny think Simon meant by "grotesque"?

Asia'h Epperson was first to weather the storm, and the sadness in her voice was audible from her first word.  Still, Asia'h tried to stay upbeat, talking about her plans (modeling and commercials), the Beatles song she would have performed ("Cant Buy Me Love") and her favorite judge (Simon). "I believe that God has a bigger and better plan for me," she said.

Kady Malloy was defiantly confident, despite her ouster. When asked what advice she had for future Idols, Kady suggested ignoring the judges. "In the end, they're just three opinions," she said. Kady listed her myriad vocal impressions (Cher, Christina Aguilera, Shakira) and maintained her sense of humor throughout the interview.  When asked about her Britney Spears impression, Kady exclaimed, "No word from Britney and I'm still waiting for her to call me about lunch!"

Luke Menard sounded more than ready to head home, and was looking forward to spending time with his wife and going to the movies, where he could "just kick back in the dark."  But don't let Luke's domestic, hermetic fantasy fool you; he still wants to perform. "Maybe pursuing some kind of Broadway career," he mused.  As for Simon, Luke said, "he really didn’t give me much constructive criticism." Instead, Luke recalled, it was mostly just "degrading stuff."

Danny Noriega was as lively as ever, lavishing praise on his "little twin" Ramiele Malubay and discussing his connection to fellow fallen Idol Kady Malloy. "It's like she's a girl version of me," he explained. "It's weird."  Danny also shrugged off what appeared to be a rivalry with Simon, saying, "It was more of a sarcastic thing between me and him."

I cannot believe Asia'h Epperson was voted off. I have not seen so much talent in the other contestants. I hope she continues with her singing career. I am still going to try to stay in tuned to what she is doing career wise.
