“In my eyes, I did the best I could,” said recently eliminated “Idol” contestant David Hernandez in a conference call with the media this morning. David was in good spirits throughout the call, even when questions turned to his past as an exotic dancer. “If this is the worst thing that people say about me in my career, then I think i’ll be OK,” said David.

David also revealed that “Idol” producers were well aware of his interesting past. “If they weren’t comfortable with it I wouldn’t have been on the show.” The ever-confident contestant made the best of his recent media attention, saying, “I think adversity is my best friend.” By staying away from the Internet and blocking out the gossip, David managed to get through the shaky period unscathed. “I’ve learned how to have a thick skin and still get on stage and perform.”

And with his thick new skin, David is ready to pursue his dream anew. Thanks to his time on “Idol,” David is already looking forward to appearances on “Ellen” and the ‘Today” show. “I would like to have an album released in the next year,” David reiterated numerous times throughout the call. David also said he ‘would love to do Broadway.”

But before David gets into the studio, or kicks off his career on Broadway, there are a few things he wants to take care of, namely, going to the gym, hanging out on his mom’s couch with her cat, going tanning and, of course, getting some sleep. “I’m looking forward to eating pork-flavored ramen noodles and having a deep, deep breath away from the paparazzi.”
