Brad Pitt, Miley Cyrus and more to appear on "Idol Gives Back"

03:45 PM PT, Mar 3 2008

Last year, "American Idol's" “Idol Gives Back” charity event raised an incredible $76 million for poverty-stricken young people in the U.S. and Africa. President Bush, Prince Charles and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown all commended the program for its monumental impact.

On April 9, the Emmy Award-winning special returns, and it’s drawing some serious star power.  Confirmed guests include Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Fergie, Snoop Dogg, Chris Daughtry, Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox, Bono, John Legend, Eli Manning and Peyton Manning.

This year, like last year, the funds will go to improving healthcare, education and water quality in impoverished areas.

I think it is great that American Idol is raising awareness and funds for health care and education- but why not help our own country?
Here in California alone we are facing a $4.8 billion cut in education funds. Where does this leave our children?

Its a great idea that American Idol has been giving back to those in need. Last year having raised $76 million dollars they helped to improve healthcare, education, water conditions, etc. Its very good seeing all the celebrities joining this annual event to help raise money for those in need. Hopefully this year they raise more than the last, and maybe, just maybe they raise $100 million dollars or more. The name of that show is truly going to imply it, "Idol Gives Back".
