Bo Bice and others visiting Idol Camp this summer!

March 21, 2008 | 10:01 am

Want to meet an “American Idol” finalist in the flesh? Well, this summer, Season 4 runner-up Bo Bice, Season 5 finalist Ace Young, and Season 3 finalist Jon Peter Lewis will all be going to Idol Camp, where they will perform, mentor campers and even teach classes.

Idol Camp opened on the East Coast last summer, but it’s moving west this summer, to California's San Bernardino mountains. Each two-week session costs $2,995 and offers a wide variety of classes, including singing and "personal style."

More artists are sure to schedule appearances as summer nears; last summer, Macy Gray even popped in for a visit!

Both Jon Peter Lewis and Ace Young also attended Idol Camp last summer, but it’s Bo Bice’s first time, so be nice to him, campers! Don’t put his hand in warm water while he’s sleeping or put Nair in his shampoo bottle.

For a lot less money, campers could go to a real arts camp where they could actually study music and performance (along with the fine arts, movie making, etc.) in the SB mountains. Idyllwild Arts has been doing this for years with their summer program and High School for the arts. How about learning the basics and classics before we push kids into the fame game.
