WIth the two sides still negotiating into the early evening, writers guild members on the East Coast were just told to wake up in the morning prepared to strike:

Excerpts from the e-mail:

"The Writers Guilds will go on strike Monday, November 5th at 12:01 AM. As soon as the strike starts at 12:01 a.m. in your home time zone, all Guild-covered work under the MBA must cease. The WGAE Strike Rules go into effect immediately when the strike starts...Basically:
You may NOT pitch or negotiate with a struck company.
You may NOT provide writing services, sell or option work to a struck company.
You MUST notify your representatives, such as agents, to cease negotiations on your behalf with struck companies...
You MUST perform picket duty."

The e-mail also went on to say:

"SHOW UP -- Join fellow writers on the picket line this week. On Monday, we will be picketing around Rockefeller Plaza on 49th St. from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Please feel free to bring family, including children, to the picket line...Beginning Tuesday, we will be picketing at various locations around New York every day."
