Ellen DeGeneres is doing what all variety talk show host "Stars," like Leno, etc., who are writers themselves, ought to be doing, writing for themselves. The ol' adage in show business has always been... "The Show Must Go On!" This is the professional thing to do as Ellen being a talk show host is doing. All others similar to her, should follow in her footsteps, especially if they have the talent and knowhow to. Ad-lib, write ones own material, do ones job and be confident, and proud of yourself for doing this for the your audience, the people who made you what you became.
The writers don't seem to care about anybody but themselves and money which they have no idea what the amount might even be at this premature time in DVD downloading history.
Afterall, the writers are on strike, not the talent before the public eye. I am ashamed of the actors protesting, presumably acting and pretending to show their solidarity for really, upsurd reasons. Bringing donuts & pizza, how "PHONY" of you to do this, to help the writers, the 3% who make a living at it, like all members and their guild. What a joke, you should be grateful to be working, you fools! Making all others in the industry and their fans suffer. They are betraying the very people who got them their names and positions, to begin with. Be courageous, be bold, be true to yourselves and most importantly, know what you're really striking for and about, before making complete fools of yourselves. The general public may not know the truth of this unmerited strike, but all professional people in the industry do. Come to your senses, writers, artists, actors and fight for the right reasons, that is if you want to work in this business at all once this is all over with. You can all be replaced you know? There is a slew of talent out there just waiting for their own big break, and they want your job, badly.

What an absolutely ridiculous comment to make. Studios refusing to give creators/writers a lousy extra .04 per $20-$25 DVD is a shameful act of greed. The companies supplying the plastic case that holds the DVD are given .50 per DVD, but the actual initial creator of the work isn't worth more than .04 to the Studios. Pathetic.
Members of the general public, like me, understand this situation perfectly well.
It's the big Studio guys with their big paychecks sitting in their big offices denying the worker-bees adequate compensation.

I am in strong support of the writers stirke. I have tickets to Wicked tomorrow and wonder if the show will be shut down?
