'The Hills': The big tease

September 11, 2007 |  1:28 pm

Hills One minute and fifty-two seconds. That is how long Jason's much-hyped appearance lasted during Monday's episode of "The Hills."

Jason had just come from his morning group meeting. We assumed he meant AA or rehab. He and Lauren, who apparently had not communicated since the breakup that kicked off Season 2, exchanged small talk before Jason, in his own way, cut to the chase and lamented the end.

"It was hard. It was weird. I was out of control. I had some bad habits," he said. Yeah. Tell us about it. "It's just hard to get over."

"I know," Lauren said.

And, for now, that was it.

Is it just us, or is there something deflating about already knowing the outcome here? We already know he's more or less engaged to someone else. Maybe, maybe not. Next week's preview looks good. Lauren and Jason and Heidi and Spencer run into one another and the gloves come off...

MTV, you damn tease, you.

To fill the rest of the half-hour we saw Audrina board the Justin Bobby rollercoaster once more. Really, does anyone else wish we were getting more of Whitney and Lo and less of Audrina? And by "more Whitney and Lo" we mean more Whitney and Lo action. Not just them making cameos to ask Lauren about her day.

Over at The Heidi and Spencer Show, we were reminded about how devious sweet-faced Heidi can be. Last season, she encouraged Jenn Bunny to go after Brody while he and her former BFF Lauren were still seeing each other. Last night, we watched her snake a colleague's chance at a promotion. Not that Bolthouse staffer Elodie stood a chance. She, after all, doesn't come equipped those camera crews bossman Brent is so fond of.

Thank goodness next week's episode is a Lauren-Heidi crossover.
