Let’s just say it -- it’s been a pretty lackluster season for ‘The Real World.’ Two of the female roommates are interchangeable, one of the men has had zero screen time, and the biggest dramas have been of the ‘Well, do you like him or like him like him?’ second-grade variety. But all that changed Wednesday night. When the history of ‘The Real World: Sydney’ is written, what I’m going to deem the Twister Incident may prove to be the most hilarious thing on the show in a while.

It started innocently enough with the roommates enjoying cocktails and playing Twister. During the game, Shauvon appeared to have a few too many and went to sit on Isaac’s lap.

In rapid succession, she fell off Isaac’s lap -- a foot and a half to a carpeted floor, not even spilling the bottle of water she was holding -- and started screaming and insisting she was bleeding. (If so, it was a teeny-tiny scrape. No gore was shown, and you know if there had been gore they would have shown it.) The girls attempted to tape Shauvon up with a tissue-sized bandage, but she’s too busy shrieking that Isaac dropped her on purpose for them to finish the job. She confronted Isaac, throwing a plate of chips and demanding an apology.

To which Isaac classically responded: ‘I apologize that gravity works in your disfavor.’

And Shauvon lost her damn mind. She dumped her bottle of water on him and ran off. He threw his beer and baseball cap at her and called her a whole panoply of bad names. KellyAnne convinced Isaac to apologize, saying that even though Shauvon was drunk, he should have expressed some sort of concern that she was hurt.

Isaac went to Shauvon to apologize and uttered the night’s classic speech No. 2: ‘Shauvon, I apologize for calling you a slut. I shouldn’t have done that ... and I didn’t mean you were a slut like that. When I get up and start yelling at a girl, that’s one of the first words that comes out.’ He went on from there, discussing other terms he uses when he’s ticked off at a lady, but ‘slut’ is pretty much the only one that can be printed on a family website. Even MTV bleeped out some of the alternatives. Use your imagination. Needless to say, Shauvon continued to sob on the couch.

I think there’s hope for this season after all.
