How can it be possible that “Nip/Tuck” turns five this year?

As we’ve previously reported, FX’s Golden-Globe-winning drama is giving itself a complete makeover this year, moving Doctors McNamara and Troy from South Beach to the 90210.

La-La-Land will affect the baddest boys of the scalpel by reversing the pecking order, creator Ryan Murphy told television journalists at the Beverly Hilton. Sean (Dylan Walsh) will become more confident and successful and Christian (Julian McMahon) will become more insecure, as he meets other doctors who are better at stretching flabby skin than he is.

But that’s not the only thing the ‘Nip/Tuck’ writers have come up with for this 22-episode season, which returns sometime in October.

Sean and Christian will become medical advisors on a television drama called “Hearts and Scalpels,” which Murphy described as the “worst medical show ever made,” and a satirical take on “Nip/Tuck.”

Oliver Platt will play the producer of the show within the show and Bradley Cooper plays the lead, the biggest cad plastic surgeon around.

And, yes, there will be plenty of nudity, sex and bizarre surgeries. Just yesterday, McMahon convinced the director to change a scene in which he was supposed to be doing push-ups in his underwear in his bathroom to exercising on the deck in the buff.

We look forward to October.
