Bob Barker’s shoes are still empty -- at least the ones he wore to host “The Price Is Right” for 35 years.

Despite announcing his retirement on Halloween 2006 and then officially signing off earlier this summer, the hosting slot for the CBS daytime franchise remains vacant. “You talk about Bob,” said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler during a Beverly Hills news conference Wednesday morning. “I mean, those are the biggest shoes in Hollywood to fill .... This man is a legend, he’s an icon.”

The person, for the moment, closest to stepping into Barker’s ‘Price Is Right’ footwear seems to be Drew Carey. The stand-up comic turned television star is set to anchor a CBS prime-time game show, “Power of 10,” which premieres in August. Other names that have come and gone as possible ‘Price Is Right’ hosts include the perennially tanned George Hamilton and the perennially controversial Rosie O’Donnell.
