Resurrection: The fans save 'Jericho'

01:47 PM PT, Jun 5 2007

Jericho_3
Sometimes going a little nutty is a good thing.

For weeks, "Jericho" junkies have been firing e-mails (effectively shutting down InBoxes at CBS and this newspaper), signing petitions and sending bags of nuts to CBS headquarters in protest.

The assault seems to have worked, "Jericho" creator and executive producer Carol Barbee said Tuesday. CBS executives are in discussions with the show's producers and actors to resuscitate the show  -- killed just last month -- for an eight-episode run in mid-season.

"The idea would not be to bring it for eight and out, but to bring it back for eight with the hope that it would keep going," Barbee said. "They're making deals with the actors and there's other logistical stuff to work out too. 'Swingtown' [a new drama] was supposed to take over the same stages so it's a lot about the logistics of how to work out a schedule that works for all of us."

Barbee said the fan fever for the show did not surprise her-she had been keeping a close eye on the show's viewers on the Web. But she never expected CBS to change its mind because of the devotion.

"I was so kicked in the gut when we were canceled," she said. "I was really upset and angry and mourning over this amazing experience we had this year and this amazing family we put together and this show we were all so proud of. I didn't see the end coming so it felt like it wasn't over."

When the fan fight to save the show would not let up, CBS began talks with producers about a two-hour movie that would wrap up the show, but the writers were not interested, Barbee said.

"We just felt like that was doing it short-shrift, and it's too big of a story to wrap up in a two-hour movie," she said. "I really think that what has been learned here is that networks are going to have to look at numbers and who is watching their show and who is downloading their show in a different way from here on out. I think they have to understand that the Nielsens are not telling the story anymore and that the 18-49 demographic they're all so keen on is online and that's how increasingly they are getting their news and entertainment."

Since the fan revolt began, "Jericho" viewers have insisted they also would not be satisfied with a TV movie or online re-cap that told them how the "Jericho" story ends.

If the actors sign on the dotted line -- and those deals should be in place in the next day or two -- Barbee said "Jericho" junkies will get their way.

This is incredible news! I am so thrilled that they will be bringing back one of the greatest shows on television. If you haven't watched it, you can on CBS's Innertube (cbs.com). All 22 episodes of Season 1 are there. You won't be disappointed. Way to go Jericho!!!!

Hello, thanks for the great news and hope all works out...also a thanks for the over 107 000 fans and counting who signed our petion online...

franky

I am so happy to read this AMAZING news!!! All of our hard work and persistance has finally paid off! Jericho is a wonderful story and a show that millions of fans have loved and enjoyed since day one. GREAT job to all the people involved with this campaign!!

This is very good. Jericho is a great show that never deserved to be canceled. It was put in a mid-season hiatus, and CBS appeared to be surprised that it lost viewers because of it. We fans have been fighting fervently to save this incredible show. I myself have contributed $80 to send nuts to CBS, sent 4 letters, signed the online Save Jericho petition, sent countless emails, and because of me eight other people have signed the petition. Other fans have been just as supportive of our favorite show. It is everything that we deserve to have it renewed.

Wooohoooo! This is a great day in the history of TV.

Awesome news - hopefully CBS wont screw it up this time by not promoting the series and taking advantage of its internet presence.

Thanks for the article Maria, we're crossing our fingers!
Go Jericho!!!!!

Denise_C

I hope this is true, Jericho was my FAVORITE show!! There's not to much on TV in the last decade or so that actually made me think the way this show does.

I hope this means that we will have our show back even it comes back mid season or something.

It is not just the 19 to 49 year olds that watch shows like this and are avid fans and discuss the show on line. There are those of us older people in the 50+ age range that do still have buying power from their ads and are avid fans.

Networks are not keeping up with today's world of television viewers. So many of us tape or tivo as many as 9 different shows per night during prime time so we can watch a large variety of television shows. Often times family members that live in the same house do not always want to watch what another family member wants to watch. Tivo and taping is wonderful for this and that way everyone gets to see the program that they want.

Or, in today's busy world, it is easier to tape or tivo shows so that during down time you can watch your favorite shows.

Having been a Neilsen household at one time I can assure you that it does not take into consideration shows that are taped or tivod and then watched.

The world has changed, but the networks have not. When they can find a way to track what is downloaded on the net, saved on Tivo, or taped for later viewoing they will have a better idea of what the true numbers are.

Let us hope that Jericho comes back with a strong showing in viewership!

I love Jericho and I sent nuts and letters, all by email and the internet! This show is awesome and makes you think. I hope this is the real thing because it just made my day, no my YEAR! Way to go fans, and if you have not watched the show you can watch it online to catch up and the great show that you missed!

Resurrection? Put that word together with Johnston Green and that would really make an exciting come-back of Jericho. :)

I am SO STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now - what do we do with the other 9,000 # of nuts??? :)

Thanks CBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is great news!!!! I only hope that CBS takes into consideration that viewers not only watch it on television but also dvr, internet, etc.
I watched several episodes via the internet when my dvr broke down and was out getting repaired.
I believe there will be many viewers as there was when the show got cancelled. But I think there will be many additional viewers due to the recognition the show has had since the cancellation.

Lets hope Jericho is here to stay for seasons to come.

MCP

CBS is full of win and awesome! Seriously this is absolutely unbelievably wonderful news! I am beyond thrilled! Way to go CBS!

its about time these geniuses in TV land listen to the viewers.

Victor, unfortunately, he wanted out, which is why they killed Johnston Green off. :(

Thank you Maria for the great news!

Thank you Carol and the writers for refusing the movie deal :)

Thank you Jericho Rangers for fighting the good fight XD

Thank you CBS for listening to everyone ;)

I am so excited at the prospect! Jericho is my favorite show!

Great work Jericho Rangers! Keep up the assult, we have them on the ropes now its time to move in for the kill! Remeber to keep pumping Jericho and ensuring everyone you know has watched all the epsiodes and get them ready for the next season!

Semper Fi!

OK CBS....hope the 'rumors' are true.....if so, YOU ROCK! We want to hear it from you, so give us the great news!!!

This is a giant step in the right direction. Can't wait to hear it from CBS themselves! Way to go Rangers!

Good Job CBS.. Hats off to you for recognizing what viewers want, and for reviving this show. Maybe its time I take a look at other shows on your station.

OMG ...This is great news. I do hope it works and we get our "JERICHO" back. Thanks to all who are helping and all of us that are giving. LOL Great day!!!!!

Okay now I'm in tears here.....What a wonderful feeling I have right now!!! JERICHO ROCKS!!!

Thank you so much for this article. I am so happy I'm crying. Thank you CBS for bringing Jericho back for a second season. It's been a long exhausting & expensive battle - writing letters, making phone calls, sending nuts and flowers, being a dork with a big sign on the back window of my car - but it was all worth it & I'd do it again. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!

Thanks for the Great news. Hope they can work it all out. Loved the show, great story line!

I am soooooooo pleased. I am so proud of CBS for relenting to everyone's collective cry. This is awesome news. In all sincerity: Thank you, CBS.

Wow. This is such a rollercoaster. To find this great show in April (yes a little late and making me one of the 18-49 year olds who almost solely watched this show via CBS's own Innertube) and to get totally hooked, to seeing rumors about it being "on the bubble" to it being outright canceled to by happenstance find out about the nuts campaign - and subsequent email, phonecall, and snail mail campaigns - to the "closure" statement from Nina to the TONS of nuts to the slight slowdown of nutty momentum and the restructuring of our efforts to get the word out even more to now finding all our work is coming to fruition and that we might get at least a half-season and possibly more! I'm beyond excited. I can't believe I helped in this. I am just flabbergasted beyond belief.

Thank you to CBS for listening to the fans. Jericho is an excellent show. We will make multiple seasons happen for you! Rock ON! NUTS!

And how is the creator of the show's word NOT official word? lol.

In my book it is official, and I am happy! w00tXx0Rz

I think that a lot of people, myself included, don't get involved in these things because we feel that they have no chance of success. I want to congratulate everyone who worked so hard to make this happen. It's proof that people can make a difference, and that's a great thing.

I can't believe it!!! I sure hope this is for real. My husband and I were glued to the set Wednesdays at 8. It's the only show we felt that way about.

NUTtastic!!! Congratulations Rangers of Jericho for making television history!

However, Nina's press release is not yet in hand. Until that time, CBS stays locked out of my settop under "Parental Control."

22 not 8 !! NUTS!!!

www.jerichonuts.com

Thanks for listening, CBS. Thanks!

Wonderful, wonderful news! Thank you sooooo much, CBS! The superb cast, crew, writers and producers deserve this second season! And I make you a promise that the Jericho Rangers will make their next mission the explosive, worldwide promotion of the show. What say you, Rangers?

I have been an avid watcher of Jericho, When I can get my wife hooked on it then it has to something good. My Wife and I are both in our 50's so do not worry about the age thing.
We both live in the Great Buckeye State of Ohio. Thanks to all who have worked so hard to keep a good show going. I am a disbled Vietnam Veteran or I would have been out there with all of you.

Thanks from Ohio

We're pumped! See the season 2 promo here:

Yee-ha!! Thanks so much CBS for listening to loyal Jericho fans! I can't wait for the official announcement - this is the best news ever!!

8 episodes doesn't cut it for me. I had NEVER heard of Jericho until a little over two weeks ago. What does that say for advertising? It's called cross promoting! Billboards! Those little black and white papers! Magazines! Buy some time on FOX!

I heard of it from my sister after the last episode aired

I watched all 22 episodes online and on my Xbox. I even stayed up all night until 11 the next day finishing off the season! Then after getting addicted to the point that I would give up 24, Lost and Heroes all together, I heard Jericho was not renewed.

I say we all start a movement to boycott 'Kid Nation' and free the slot, stage, and budget for Jericho. CBS, if you only give 8 episodes, you lose this house.

As of right now, I will not watch CBS again until season two airs. You promise me only 8 episodes, you stay blocked. Any thing less than a full 2nd season and 3rd season renewal, you get blocked again.

FYI - In my line of work I have learned that 95% of unsatisfied customers don't confront poor service. ,They simply do not return. Think about that when you make your next round of cuts!

Don't you dare give up yet Jericho fans! Continue the fight nothings set in stone yet!

are they going o finsh off when th army was comeing an green was killed

David Hatcher: posts like yours do not paint the Jericho fan base - you know, the ones who may have actually watched the show when it was on? - in a good light. We'd prefer you not try to include yourself, thanks. We don't want this movement to denigrate into the petulant name-calling and foot-stamping that a certain other show's fan's do.

I could kiss my computer screen right now I am so happy. :-)

NUTS!

They should do a air drop on the show early on with some of these peanuts. Perhaps even put a subtle hint of a "Nutsonline" somewhere on the dropped package to say thanks to the Jericho fans.

8 episodes is still way better than the 2-hour movie of sorts that was originally offered, especially when it could lead to more if the early episodes do well...

Here is hoping the 8 turns into closer to 16+ episodes as it is a little unreasonable to expect the 20-24 episodes range on a mid season at this point.

Thank you nuts, both the small edible and human kind.

Thanks CBS & everyone who signed petitions & sent emails. This time we were heard.

I think CBS was just worried about what would happen if they didn't renew Jericho. The fans were slowly joining forces with fans burned by the sudden cancellation of other shows, the growing numbers of parents groups opposed to Kid Nation, and people just disgusted with the garbage on TV these days. This little viewer insurrection could have turned into a politically well-armed movement - a CBS triggered firestorm that could sweep all of the broadcast networks.

Honestly, I'm not sure which would be the better outcome...but this is good news and I'm eager to watch the next season of Jericho.

EXCELENT, just EXCELENT

I am a dedicated Jericho fan but because I am married with a toddler, work full time and take 12 college hours a semester my personal time is limited and precious. I couldn't watch the show live. I could only find time to watch five TV shows a week and three of them were CBS shows: Jericho, Heroes, Supernatural, NCIS and Criminal Minds, but I'd DVR these shows and then watch them whenever I had time. Sometimes I would have to go a couple of weeks and then catch up on aired episodes. If I had to watch just one, it was going to be Jericho.

After the Hiatus, my DVR started recording again and I started watching again but apparently, my viewing doesn't count in the tallied ratings. Advertisers should know that if it weren't for Jericho and those four other shows, I'd never hear about any products. The four movies I've seen in theaters this year I found out about through the few TV commercials I watched on DVR. The new car I bought this year, I first heard about through those commercials that networks don't tally me as watching.

I think that a lot of people don't count DVR or recordings because they assume people just skip through commercials, but that's really not the case. I watch commercials even though I DVR because its the only contact I have with advertisers and I want to be informed of new products. Plus, most commercials these days are actually entertaining.

The industry needs to make adjustments to accomodate the new media that has been introduced. People like me and the other fans who DVR or use On Demand or watch online should be counted and accomodated. It's like introducing a new product and then excluding any profit made from that product in your final tallies.

There is also the fact that some of the greatest and most watched shows in history had less than stellar first seasons. Some of them, like Seinfeld, had less than stellar second and third seasons but look what they became!

I think that CBS and other networks should re-evaluate how they meassure a shows success and potential.

Kudos to http://www.NutsOnline.com for all their work. They made it really easy for us to get all those nuts shipped.

Suurepärane uudis!(Wonderful news! in Estonian language) Support for the series has been international. I participated in the protest by calling CBS once and therefore dialing my life's first international phone call. This series is right now shown far away in Estonia on TV 3 on Wednesdays at 9:05 PM and I like it very much.

This evening, Federal Response will air. I hope that Jericho will be continued. I was also very upset when I learned during advertisement break(what broke into Jericho's 2nd episode) that Jericho was cancelled.

I can't find anything about this on CBS or the Jericho pages there. If this is some kind of joke, I missed the punchline.

WOW this is the best news ever. I cant wait for them to come back. I hope it comes back soon

Great news from Jericho viewers in Northern Ireland !

It was so disappointing to hear the plug was being pulled by CBS - great to see the fans being listened to for once !

Roll on season 2....

As a 50+ year old TV viewer who had never before emailed or called a network to protest the canceling of a fantastic show, its great to have been one of the many fans of Jericho who tried to do what they could to save this unique program. If its all really true, thank you CBS for actually listening to what your viewers REALLY want to see on prime time TV!

Oh deary me. What a precident this sets.

I watched every episode of Jericho, each week more bewildered at what I was doing, and why I couldn't stop watching one of the most appallingly scripted programmes in TV history. But I couldn't stop! I began loving laughing out loud at the idiotic conversations, the personality flipflops, and the most astonishingly dreadful moments of attempted pathos I've ever seen. I realised, after 18 episodes of almost nothing happening (the school's on fire! A fire! Wow!) that I was in love. Stupid, idiotic love.

Cancellation was the best thing for me.

A network bowing to loud voices, especially for a programme as ridiculous as this one, is a woeful sign for the future.

Oh My God! We made CBS Blink! Great job on the website and with the nuts! My family sent in emails and signed the petition but I never thought it would do any good-glad i was wrong. This is great news, it better happen-and keep the scheduling away from American Idol!

My wife was trying to get me interested in some of the new shows like "Traveler" but, I had refused to get invested. Sick of being left in the dust, Invasion, DayBreak, WindFal, etc. I even dumped HBO over the Sopranos, year and a half for a crap season. DONE, will rent the DVD or better yet, borrow the DVDs from someone to catch the last season. CBS had finished me on TV seris too with Jericho's cancellation. Hope it comes back, CBS restore my faith, bring it back and finish what you started.

Thanks for writing this, and thanks to CBS for listening to the viewers. I hope this good news is true, and look forward to more episodes of "Jericho."

Thanks for not leaving Jericho fans hanging!!

YES!!!! Thank GOD!!!

I've never watched a single episode of this show - it was opposite another show of mine that I adored and is now gone - but all of this hullabaloo has piqued my interest. If CBS reruns it (over the long summer? marathon?) I'll check it out. I figure any show that generates THIS much adoration from the fan base must have something going for it.

Great news!!!! I love Jericho!!! Can't wait to see what happens next! Thanks for bringing it back!!!

I really hope this is true! Jericho was, by far, the best show on TV this year! It was canceled for the WRONG reasons, and deserves to be returned. SAVE JERICHO!

OMG, can it be true? Did we save Jericho!!! Thank you Carol and CBS if this is true!

Yay, Jericho is saved! NUTS to CBS - sorry I meant, thank you CBS! You just won back a dedicated viewer!

This is great news and I thanks all of the other Jericho Rangers and all of the staff over at Nutsonline.com, since without all of their hard work this probably wouldn't have happened. Let's hope that CBS and the other networks find a better way to measure viewership - the Nielsen are the dark ages of television viewer measurement and don't seem to count time-shifting and net downloads correctly - they are nothing but a semi-educated guess.

It's official Jericho is coming back

Below is a message from CBS Entertainment.

June 6, 2007

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.

A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.

We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler

President, CBS Entertainment

P.S. Please stop sending us nuts :)

NICE !!!!!!

I watched all episodes on itunes. I have a mac and use firefox o innertube doesn;t work for me. I found out about the show buy a digg article about the "nuts for jericho" campaign(SP?)

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

They listened and did the RIGHT thing!!!!

YAY!

Bring back the father!!!!!! He should not have died!!! Love that actor!!!!!
Maybe it was just a bad dream and he is still alive!!!!!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know where CBS got its ratings but i was crushed when jerico ended and so were all my friends and family.we worked around jericos time slot.rushing home to see it.never missing a night wishing it was longer loving that it was a "smart: show and not another copycat reality mind snoozer.dont be so quick to pull the trigger CBS.you have no idea how many folks not hooked to neilson boxes are out here and how many love this show.i swore off your network when jerico was cancelled.it was the last straw. ,so did all my friends and family.bringing smart tv back.not pandering to the lowest and giving us all credit for our loyalty when you showed none for us..well..you may just have turned that around.jericos coming back and we are too.

Best show on television. I didn't realize that it had been taken off. I'm certainly happy that it will return. If something has to go let it be a stupid "reality' show. Come to think about it, they're all stupid.

I just want to say that I really feel like a large compny has finally listen to it's "Customers".
Jericho is a great show that refects the possibility of something that could really happen and as mentioned before - It makes you think.
Ron Kremble

thanks for your great article. i have been waiting for a news like this ;)

Now if only the suits at HBO would catch this same wind of wisdom and bring back CARNIVALE!

YAY!!!!!!! I really love that show & I admire the characters strength & creativity. It is a bit uncomfortable to see the reflection of ourselves under such chaos. It is very good for us to watch this. I too would like to see Gerald McRainey resurrected!! Very good story & setting. This is such a timely & worthwhile subject to address on stupid-sitcom-saturated tv!!

Although I AM thrilled that they caved; I did read that CBS is only giving us 7 more episodes, of this beloved series next spring!

Both happy & sad.
dma69

And, by-the-way, the fans of this show are SOOO freakin' incredible!!! I think it's great that WE-THE-VIEWERS are finally taking a stand with some of these stupid decisions that are made so hastily. It's hard to let yourself get interested in a great show like Jericho, when you don't know how many weeks it will be before it's jerked out from under!

just bumpin' my gums (so to speak),
dma69

Jericho is one of the best shows on TV that I have seen in a long time.I Think that the writers should get an Emmy. This show is Explosive! Don't take it away.

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAHOO!

omg I'm so happy, Jericho is a great show !!!

My kids and I love Jericho it is one of the best shows we have ever seen by far. We are hoping that it is going to make a full return. The writers did an awesome job.

I'VE BEEN VERY NERVOUS ABOUT THE RETURN OF JERICHO SINCE THE LAST EPISODE. NOW IT LOOKS LIKE I CAN RELAX FOR A WHILE AND ENJOY AT LEAST A FEW EPISODES THIS SUMMER. THANK YOU
JEFF ROCK FALLS WI

I'VE BEEN NERVOUS EVER SINCE THE LAST EPISODE OF JERICHO. NOW IT LOOKS LIKE I MAY BE SEEING MORE, AT LEAST FOR A WHILE. THANK YOU
JEFF ROCK FALLS WI

Great news! Go fans! Go CBS for seeing the light! Now, for Gods sake, don't put it up against American Idol again....

Thanks to everone that joined this campaign. Jerico was one of my favorite shows and i was about to swear off CBS. Hope this works and keeps Jerico on the air with lots of new episodes.

I hope Jericho is coming back for good. It's a real thing that could happen and it shows realistically how people would probably handle it. I am stuck on Jericho. I would TiVo it and then watch 2 ata time and then be upset because I would watch both shows and then have to wait a week for the next one. I am stuck on Jericho.
Penny

I'm not so much of a fan that I'd call it "one of the greatest shows on TV", but I definitely like the show, and I'm impressed with how far it goes to make you think - not just about the plot, but about human nature. I watch very little TV, but this was one show I tuned into every week. (The only other new show I've been watching over the last year was Deadwood.)

Unfortunately, I never saw any notice that Jericho was coming back on - apparently they're repeating "Season 2" starting tonight in 10 minutes, and I never knew about it. So much for promotion.

I didn't like how season 2 ended (the whole New Bern storyline was a bit silly), but it was nice to see Hawkins taking centre stage. I'd like to see what happens next.

It's typical how the really great TV shows, the ones with the devoted fans, always get cut by the networks: Buffy, Babylon 5, and so on. It seems they don't want you to be a real fan of a show; they just want a passive body in front of the TV who watches the show and then forgets about it when the next show comes on.

Keep the show back on the air, CBS! You don't have any other good programming!

I can't tell how excited we are to have Jerico back. It has so many possibilites for story lines. Its one of the most realistic looks at a potential disaster Ive ever seen. Its one of the best shows on tv. JERICO ROCKS!!!!! keep it on.

Thank you CBS for bringing Jericho back to us. The show is so relevent to many Americans expecially now (post 9-11). We're getting the word out to our family & friends to help build a larger base of viewers. We'll do our part, but you need to do yours as well. Example: Invite some of the cast members onto "Late Night with David Letterman" to tell the amazing story of how we fans were able to change the course of an amazing televison show.
Again, thanks for listening to our concerns.

I'm hoping with all the peanuts and publicity Jericho has received at CBS, more people will watch it in January. This should create such a viewing audience, CBS will have ot renew it and keep it going a few more years. I hope people are curious to want to know why it's been the only show to get brought back after being axed, then received so much fan mail about it. Tell all your friends to watch. They'll get hooked as we did. This type of show could be real, unlike all the so-called reality crap on TV that is too far away from real to ever get there. Here's hoping Jericho lives a long and prosperous life on CBS. And if CBS doesn't want it, there must be another network out there willing to see its potential for greatness. Everybody get busy and advertise it to your friends before the Jan 31 start date. This gives us plenty of time to make it popular before it starts this winter. Here's praying it does well enough to stay on TV. Maybe CBS doesn't have enough nuts.

After having read all the comments above (mostly from Jun 5), it appears most everyone is as excited as I am about Jericho coming back. I do have some concerns about why it was cancelled in the first place.

CBS, you are using a very antiquated system when putting Nielson boxes in only a number of houses in each of about 4-6 cities across the country. You call this a sampling of the market. I call it a bad reading and recommend you either update your number of boxes to other locations in the country and not just concentrate on areas like NYC, Philly, Chicago and LA. With 300,000,000 people in this country now, and the technology being available, all major networks need to upgrade the way they determine which new shows make it and which ones don't.

It's obvious the Jericho fans have spoken and CBS, fortunately listened, but will any network listen again when this happens the next time or is this just a one time thing? You believe when your planted boxes aren't registering the numbers you're looking for to keep a show on, you've aleady made up your mind to not renew certain programs. That is not only unfair to the show and everyone involved with it, but it's also unfair to the audience that gathers around every week to watch it. When millions of people are watching, but you don't know it because it's not being registered anywhere, you're chopping a show with a large audience but your numbers don't show it. Either stop using the current system, upgrade it to something more fair to all (not just a select few) or devise a more workable solution to determine what goes and what stays.

I think most of America is tired of all these new reality shows coming out when the old ones should be buried. We don't need any more of these. At least Jericho uses a plot which is possible in the real world. THAT'S REALITY!!!! It shows human nature and how people act under those conditions. Also, I hope they do well enough to get a renewal and not end it after 7 or 8 episodes early 2008. Asking others to watch to increase the audience is useless since the ones I ask to watch are not being monitored anymore than I am, so how are you going to know if there is a larger audience if the added numbers don't fit into your selected homes. Why do we in America have to rely on those select few to determine what we get to watch and that which we don't. When there is a problem, it needs to be fixed. This is a major problem and definitely needs to be fixed by all major networks that use this system to determine what lives and what dies on all of America's television sets. Please take this seriously. I will be sending it to all networks.

Thanx, Rick

So glad we are getting 7 more episodes!! And the extras on the season one DVD are awesome!!

we are so happy to hear its back. When it first started I was so addicted to jericho I would have given up months of my life to get all the eposides at once! It got a little slow in the middle but we love it. I am happy to hear its going to finish.

To CBS why not use the internet to see what people are watching. You will get a much more acurate idea of what people really love. Have a website where people can vote (once) for their favourite programs, then you have a true idea of what programs are really being watched. (also have their age group and anything else you need to know.

Thanks so much for all of your hard work in getting jericho back! Cant wait to see it. that is if they get it here in New Zealand

My husband and I watched every episode of the first season using Comcast On-Demand because we both work nights and cannot watch when it originally airs in primetime. Now, we no longer have On-Demand, so we watch our CBS shows online. I hope that CBS takes On-Demand viewers, online viewers, and DVR viewers into considerations when calculating their viewers! I miss me some Jericho!!!! Bring it back!!!!!

I am very glad that Jericho is being brought back. Its a great show, and I will do all I can to promote it. It makes you think about what could happen.

I think the Tuesday night time slot right after The Unit was a great decision by CBS. I will be watching Jericho every week.

YEA!!! ITS COMING BACK. GREAT SHOW! THANKS CBS!
