'Ugly Betty': Ye old buckin' bronco

08:52 AM PT, May 4 2007

BettyandhorseHenry, thou art a fool. A fool, I say!

Who wouldst settle for the simpering Charlie when Betty, the fairest and funniest maid in all of broadcast TV land, pines for thee openly?

Thy intentions were indeed noble at The Middle Ages putting thyself on the line when thou didst learn of Betty’s dangerous plan to mount the wild metal steed that she might win the currency to buy passage abroad for her troubled father.

“I have thighs of steel,” she didst explain to Christina. “If that’s what it takes to help my father, I will ride that giant robot horse all the way to Mexico!”

Thou quickly made haste to take her place, though thwarted by a call from Charlie. And when Betty was flung from the beast, again thou tried to do the right thing, suffering grave injury after defending her honor to a heckling knave “American Gladiator”-style. But no sooner didst thou confess to Betty of thine affection with an “I love you,” then thou didst leave with Charlie!

Pray, tell me how a lad darest leave with one lady after professing love to another. Methinkst, Henry, thou art a bonehead.

Denise, methinks thou dost protest too much.
Henry's love for fair Betty is plain.
We think, nay know, the two will not date "dutch"
Before too many episodes do wane.

Have faith, relax, enjoy the geek romance
And laugh at Mandy's kitchy phone sex gig
And Marc's hand helping Wili to enhance
Her chance with Daniel's father. (Slut! The pig!)

So many questions we'll be left with soon
Will Betty's father meet a murder charge?
Will Claire escape the wrath of Yoga's tune?
Will Hilda finally be living large?

And Daniel- what? Will he an addict be?
How canst he miss the gift in front of him!
But would he be a gift to poor Betty?
Should she dare climbing out along that limb?

Yes, some prefer a Daniel-Betty match.
I wanted that when first I saw the pair
But Henry is the one our maid should catch
His voice, his glasses, his romantic flair!

Soon now, the season comes unto its end
Who'll make me laugh and cry and exhort "Wow"?
Who'll be a lover? Who'll be just a friend?
My Thursdays will be much the poorer now.

To make us wait the summer is so wrong
Why dost the Gods of TV treat us so?
A Betty-Henry kiss, I will prolong
Should such be captured on my dear TiVo.
