CBS is picking up “Viva Laughlin,” the U.S. remake of the unconventional BBC musical murder mystery “Viva Blackpool,’ sources said Monday. Hugh Jackman is a co-executive producer and will have a recurring guest role in the series, which follows the schemes of small-time casino owner Ripley Holden as he tries to open a glamorous resort in the Nevada desert.

The cast also includes Madchen Amick, P.J. Byrne, Carter Jenkins, Lloyd Owen, Eric Winter, Ellen Woglom, D.B. Woodside and Melanie Griffith, who stars in the pilot.

It will be directed by Gabriele Muccino (“The Pursuit of Happyness”).

CBS also picked up “Twilight,” a vampire drama starring Shannon Lucio, Alex O’Loughlin, Rade Sherbedgia and Amber Valletta, sources said. The series follows a private investigator who was bitten on his wedding night 60 years earlier as he struggles to balance his real-world love with his undead adversaries. CBS won’t be making their lineup official until Wednesday.
