Free Pretzels on National Pretzel Day

April 25, 2009 |  8:00 am

If you like pretzels -- and it's the rare person who doesn't -- then National Pretzel Day on Sunday, April 26 is your kind of holiday.

In celebration of that braided staple of mall and stadium food courts, participating Pretzelmaker and Pretzel Time shops will give away one Original Soft Pretzel per customer. The companies are managed by NexCen Franchise Management Inc.

The twisty snacks are thought to be one of the world's oldest. One story links the origin of pretzels to seventh century monks in Southern France who baked thin dough strips into the shape of a praying child.
