Live chat: Paul West in DC on the year in politics

Paul-west Washington political reporter Paul West, who wrote Monday about the finish to the first half of President Obama's term, will be chatting with readers Tuesday at 10 a.m. PST.

In the news analysis West wrote with Washington bureau colleagues Christi Parsons and Lisa Mascaro, the reporters cited a flurry of accomplishments by a president who "seemed isolated and out of touch only a month ago."

West also has been keeping tabs on the possible contenders in the 2012 presidential race, including Newt Gingrich.

And he's been covering the fight by Michael Steele to retain his job as chairman of the Republican National Committee.
