Barack Obama at White House: The photos tell the story
Outside the gates of the White House, tourists, school kids and even usually blase native Washingtonians gathered to catch a glimpse of history at today's meeting of the incoming and outgoing presidents. In the photo above, by Mark Wilson of Getty Images, President Bush and President-elect Barack Obama walk through the Rose Garden en route to the Oval Office.
With Obama to be sworn in on Jan. 20 as the nation's 44th president and its first African American president, history was made at every step of today's visit by Obama and his wife Michelle.
There was this view, by Mandel Ngan of AFP/Getty Images, as the Obamas arrived at the White House, with everybody trying to figure out their places.
And finally this one, also by Ngan, of the penultimate Colonnade walk.

This last week has shown me that historic moments can be the most beautiful things.

Thanks god for new, thoughtful leadership in the form of Barack Obama- Bush and his criminal ilk cannot be gone from the US Government soon enough.

Wow, Bush is still acting like, "What, Me Worry?!" If ANY one of us were guilty of the Complete Lack of Personal Responsibility that He is, we'd be out on the street looking for another way to live! I would really like to know when ANY of us WORKING CLASS types are gonna see OUR bailout! I am disabled, and NOBODY has offered to pay off MY "BAD DEBTS" I hope I don't turn a Deep Shade of BLUE waiting for the "Little People " to get their bailout!!!! I CAN'T wait for `1-20-09!!!!
Peace+ Love to EVERY ONE, including the BUSH_CHENY Handout team!

Can you Bush haters please back off? Yes, the guy screwed up but, you know what, he entered the presidency with a DOMESTIC agenda. He wanted to improve public education so that the US could compete better globally. He wanted minority students in public school systems like NYC and LA to learn something and succeed in a competitive world. And then 9/11 happened. Rumsfeld and Cheney took the opportunity to highjack the Bush presidency. I voted against W two times but now I almost feel sorry for him. Think Greek tragic figure.

Don't you people kniw that Obama is already bought and paid for? He will do everything Israel (IAPAC) wants him to do. The whole world and the AMerican publich will see how much the Zionists run the shows in US with ambiguity. Mark my word.

What a crock. I am so fed up with the anger directed at Bush. We, as Americans, have disgraced this country and brought it to a new low by bashing our President. We are spoiled, disloyal voters who got what we voted for. But then when it didn't turn out the way we wanted, we blamed it all on Bush.
When our cushy lives got a little difficult we started whining. The world was thrilled to see our world crumble, until the financial crisis, when their world started crumbling too. Now it's so entertaining, is it?
Bush didn't attack us on 9/11. Bush didn't create Katrina. Bush didn't lose to Kerry. Bush did not create the financial crisis. Direct your anger at your Congressmen who were serving during the Bush administrations.
Now, Obama, with no experience in financial crises, let alone, the world's biggest ever, is ALREADY elevated to sainthood for having done absolutely nothing at all.
Don't get me wrong, I'm supporting Obama. But with guarded optimism. Like I do for every incoming President. Yeah, he looks great in a suit, great smile, charismatic and all that but I want a President. Not a celebrity.
So I've been following the transition and I'm beginning to think we may have just elected the first female President. Welcome to the White House, Michelle.
