Umm, Russia, about those missing Humvees...
Maybe the Russians can help President Bush cut into the federal deficit?
When they moved into Georgia earlier this month, Russian soldiers confiscated five U.S. Humvees that were being shipped to the Georgian military as part of an American training program. They were apparently taken at a port awaiting shipment inland.
Most of the U.S. military trainers in Georgia were Marines, and Gen. James T. Conway, the commandant of the Marine Corps, was asked at a Pentagon news conference Wednesday what he intended to do about the Russian capture.
"I think we're going to send the Russians a bill and tell them, you know, 'Either pay up or give us back our vehicles, guys,'" Conway said.
Total value? About $540,000.

The answer would be straight and brief - "Go to hell, guys." ;)

You gotta be kidding, Mr. Conway.
Posted by: Igor | August 28, 2008 at 03:51 PM
Goog for the Russians!! Ummm... Conway should know that the US is being retarded when they are sending humvees for "training" purposes amid a full-scale war. From what I've read elsewhere, only Georian military was operating the vehicles. If that's not a provocation, I don't know what is.

I wonder if Russki have to fill up the tank before returning, like we do with U-Haul trucks?
Buhahahaha!

Yeah, we can exchange these hammers to the billions-dollars worth contracts which were lost in Iraq after US invasion -- with great pleasure!

Is this a joke? So USA is now "renting" its equipment to its allies with special rule that it has to be returned in case it is captured by the enemy? Hehe.
I wonder what they are going to say if anything happens to their Patriots in Poland (even tho I really hope they will stay safe and sound...).

Nogovitsin said they found "very interesting" things in those humvees. I'm pretty sure it's a bunch of satanic hard rock CDs and playboy magazines with naked women. the question is... will russia value that stuff at $540,000. I think it's trash, like the humvees

hehe
you do not know Russia
Those Humvees are already used to transport generals kids from generals' villas at Rublevka to their schools.
Soon you'll see generals' kids use these HamVee to go to local discos.

these russian posters are quite immature in their glee - i am sure that US could care less about the lost HumVees, this certainly political step on US part is meant to signal rUSSIA that next time the russians lose something (as they did on many occasions in the years prior) they will have to suck on their bear paw instead....

Only Humvees? And nothing else? Ask for missiles blasted. Why not? Why only Humvees?

Ask georgians. Give them a kick for this. They are not able to fight and Russia is to blame. Wonderful!

It is embarassing - may be those humvees were used in war to kill Ossetians, or to start this this conflict.
20 fully armed georgian soldiers were inside on some mission.
They were clearly trophies and to ask them back is just RUDE and LOW. Russia can also show a bill for a billion to restore Ossetia and another one to restore Georgia. Or wait - we are already paying last one.

I hope to hell the blue force tracker units don't have many secrets Ivan can pry from them. Its like 1999 during Kosovo when Serb AA downed a F-117. Russian FSB was on scene at the crash site within minutes crating up what survived. Keep in mind in 1999 Putin was in charge of FSB. Funny how things come around.
