Will Gustav deliver a reminder of Katrina at just the wrong moment for Bush?

Are the weather gods conspiring to deliver a reminder of one of President Bush's lowest points just as he is about to speak to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.?
A five-day forecast has tropical storm Gustav moving up the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, and striking the same swath of Louisiana and Mississippi as Hurricane Katrina did three years ago some time on Monday.

On the one hand, nobody wishes more fervently than I do for voters to be reminded of every disasterous incompetence of the Elephantine era. On the other hand... well, as I type this from my happily 2nd-floor apartment, with Lake Ponchartrain on my right and the Muddy Mississippi on my left, munching a quarter mufaletta and listening to Sidney Bechet... not quite three months after finally returning to NOLA following not quite three years of post-Katrina exile... I can't help feeling an ebb in my enthusiasm to have my once and hopefully future town serve as an object lesson. No thanks, Mr. Gerstenzang-- I'll just hope that Gustav has better places to go... and that American voters have long enough memories not to need them refreshed.

the Focus on the Family idiots attempted to harness the wrath of their "god" to bring rains and ruin the DNC festivities and instead "Gustav Threatens GOP Convention Plans" --- DIVINE IRONY!!!
