Bush has the last word
The "Countdown" anchor can say whatever she wants on MSNBC. Same for the professor from George Washington Law. But in the end, at least on this one, the president had the last word. And he was pleased.
After months of battle, the Senate gave him enough in the way of protection for telecommunications companies tied to the government's wiretapping without warrants that he seemed pretty pleased -- the half-day flight back from Japan notwithstanding.
Moments after he returned to the White House from his four days in Japan at the annual Group of 8 summit, Bush was on the steps leading to the Rose Garden, giving a nod to the Senate.
"This vital intelligence bill will allow our national security professionals to quickly and effectively monitor the plans of terrorists outside the United States, while respecting the liberties of the American people," he said -- yielding not a bit to those who argued just the opposite.

Impeach the stupidest president in history while there is still time!
Really. Democratic legislators, what in the world is wrong with you?
Republican legislators, we already know what is wrong with you.
You've been bought and paid for nearly to the last man, and have no stake in the matter aside from your own political clout and personal financial interests.
We can only hope that the Democrats in office now are less beholden to the insurance companies, pharmaceutical giants and big oil.
