Coming up at the White House and beyond....
As the week ticks on, President Bush's schedule is typical of the final months of an administration: In this case, one prime minister, two photo ops, one bill-signing, two fundraisers.
He is marking Colombian Independence Day today -- not a regular event on the president's schedule from year to year, but, now, a fine opportunity to make yet one more pitch for the Colombian Free Trade Agreement. On Monday, there is more foreign policy: a visit from Yusaf Raza Gillani, pictured above, the prime minister of Pakistan, a key but skittish ally in the fight against terrorism, with the renewed Taliban threats on the agenda.
In between, there are Republican fundraisers in Atlanta and Peoria, Ill., a regular array of photo ops and -- one meeting listed innocuously as: U.S. Department of Defense Briefings. The president periodically gets an update from the chiefs at the Pentagon.
