Bush goal now his wish: A world free from tyranny
At his final Group of Eight summit, President Bush today presented his wishes for the annual meeting: "A world free from tyranny."
Taking part in yet one more G8 photo op with the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and the host, Japan, Bush (and the others) placed wishes on a tree that formed the backdrop.
The president's written wish, as provided by the White House:
I wish for a world free from tyranny; the tyranny of hunger, disease and free from tyrannical governments. I wish for a world in which the universal desire for liberty is realized. I wish for the advance of new technologies that will improve the human condition and protect our environment. I wish God's blessings on all. George W. Bush.
If it sounds familiar, you may be thinking back 3 1/2 years, to the president's second inaugural speech. Then, at a high point of his presidency, he declared his intention to promote democratic movements "in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world."
His second term goal is now his wish.

Good for him..history will judge him well and as an Arab American myself, I can tell you that 10 years from now, we will see how much we owe this man our gratitude. Because after Iraq, it's only a matter of time, where most Arab countries will have no choice but to open up their societies a little and let their people breath the air of freedom in their own country.

Wow, the Bushbots continue to post their stale talking points: "after Iraq, it's only a matter of time, where most Arab countries will have no choice but to open up their societies." This is a circa 2003 GOP talking point. I say "Walid" is an Arab-American like I'm from Mars. This "wave of democracy" canard has been disproven repeatedly by Bush's failed Middle Eastern policy; the region is far worse off and far less democratic than before Bush's War of Folly in Iraq. The Bushbots' Peter Pan "logic" dictates that if you wish something to happen, it will happen. Reality, however, is a much different story.
