Bush on prayers, soldiers -- and breakfast

At his final National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast this morning, President Bush got a little nostalgic.

He noted that five injured servicemen were in the audience from Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and asked if he could have his picture taken with them. "I'm impressed, deeply impressed, by those who wear our nation's uniform," Bush said. "This, like, might not be on the schedule but if you five guys would mind letting me have my picture taken with you, I'd be honored."

He thanked Americans for their prayers over the years, saying: "It's amazing, you would think they would come up and say, 'I'd like a new highway, or how about an additional bridge.' But no, total strangers come and say, 'I just want you to know we lift you up in prayer.'" The effect, he said: "I'm finally beginning to understand the story of the calm in the rough seas."

And he made a joke at his own expense. Noting that "I stand with you for the final time as your sitting president," Bush said that "next year in Crawford, Laura and I are going to have a different kind of prayer breakfast. I'll be cooking the eggs -- and she'll be praying I don't burn them."

Gimme A BREAK!

This chickensh-- chickenhawk is vulgar and disgusting. His IMPERIOUS nature stems from believing he was 'too good, too important' to serve in Vietnam, as Barbara hid him behind her skirt, while daddy's friends found a special spot for him in the Texass Air National Guard...Bush is a 2-faced, duplicitous, hypocrite and a coward. NEVER understood how people would vote for such a pretentious, ignorant, arrogant JERK! Fortunately, I know they are now paying for their own stupidity and gullibility. Serves them all RIGHT!!!

Senator Webb was so right in refusing to shake bush's hand...it's got blood all over it. bush is a lousey commander in chief - he TALKS the talk, but we've all read the horror stories about poor flak jackets, NO armor for the humvees, disgusting treatment at Walter Reed Hospital and squalor at Georgia, Washington and other Army barracks. bush's betrayal of our troops in a crime, for which bush should be held accountable. He is a national disgrace! I hope those brave troops at this foto op' told him to 'stick it!' I suspect the cowardly dems have made another back room deal to let bush and cheney off from impeachment. I'm angry; WHY aren't you???

Both BHO and GWB have as their primary qualification for being president that they are good at getting elected. Don't take another chance with another relatively inexperienced and untested candidate. Vote for the beat-up, battle-scarred old guy, John McCain. Remember when his push for more troops in Iraq made him unpopular with everybody, Republicans and Democrats alike? His presidential hopes evaporated. But he kept pushing because McCain thought that doing the right thing was more important than being president. (That action inspires me more than any Obama speech.) After years of denial, Bush finally relented, and it turned out that the old man was right. Should have listened to Gen. Shinseki in the first place.

Please go back now

Please go back to Crawford and stay there for good, GW. Maybe you can take some speech and mental therapy while you are at it.

"Next year in Crawford, Laura and I are going to have a different kind of prayer breakfast. I'll be cooking the eggs -- and she'll be praying I don't burn them."

Typical callousness we've come to expect.

In other words, "after my term, I'll never have to appease you stoopid Bible thumpers ever again by pretending to be all into the Jebus. The only praying I'll be doing is for my war crimes to never catch up with me."
