'The Sardinian Strongman' And The Chiropractic Board
You can't make this stuff up. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed two buddies from his bodybuilding days to the state Board of Chiropractic Examiners. One of them is the guy who picked him up at the airport when he first arrived in the California in 1968, a man named Richard Tyler. And the other is Franco "The Sardinian Strongman" Columbu (pictured above in happier days), Schwarzenegger's best man at his wedding to Maria Shriver and a two-time Mr. Olympia. The 5' 5" Columbu first met the future governor in Munich in 1965.
All three bodybuilding enthusiasts/public servants have an active interest in chiropractic medicine. The governor even received an honorary degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1999, and just last weekend spoke at the International Chiropractors Association conference in Columbus, Ohio. Now: Chaos on the chiropractic board, according to the Bee's John Hill. CHP security called to meetings. Attempts to fire a deputy attorney general. Questionable rules adopted, others overlooked.
I guess I can go home now. There is nothing left in the world to blog after that. Schwarzenegger has exceeded all expectations.
