San Francisco: OMG

Remember that five minutes when San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom was going to be the next governor of California? There he is standing with his gorgeous wife at the time, Kimberly Guillfoyle Newsom, in 2003, looking gorgeous together and pointing to the limitless sky.

Well, Newsom is going to have to find a new campaign manager for that endeavor - because his current one just quit on news that his wife had an affair with Mayor McHottie about a year and a half ago. She revealed the tryst to her husband "as part of a rehabilitation program she has been undergoing for substance abuse," the Chronicle reports this morning. No comment from the former lovebirds.

But the best part of the story is S.F. political consultant Jack Davis, who hates Mayor Newsom. He congratulates himself for knowing about the affair six months ago and then says: "Now that it's public and out there, Gavin ought to resign and seek psychiatric help."

Yes, this is the same shocked Jack Davis whose 50th birthday party in 1997 featured performance artist Steven Johnson Leyba, the Trickster Satanic Clown. On stage in front of astonished birthday guests and dignitaries, Mr. Clown's stripper roommate carved a pentagram in his back and put a Jack Daniels bottle where the sun don't shine.
