Not Exactly the Gettysburg Address

Jackson2Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, speaking today at a breakfast honoring Martin Luther King Jr., used the sentence "One man with courage makes a majority." The governor uttered the familiar line without attribution, which is probably a good thing. It has been widely attributed to former President Andrew Jackson, brutal Indian slayer and slave owner.

The San Francisco event honoring the civil rights leader included former Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, who was emcee at Schwarzenegger's 2007 inaugural, and state Treasurer Bill Lockyer. U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also attended today; Schwarzenegger said about her: "What an outstanding job, what a great accomplishment."

Schwarzenegger described King as a "lion, full of heart and fire and passion for justice."
