Can I Sell You a Subscription?

The governor's relationship with The Times has been, er, occasionally problematic. But we also know he's a regular reader, and he's not just reading news about his office banter.

Schwarzenegger dedicated a new symphony hall in Costa Mesa today, and L.A. Times staffer Mike Boehm reports that the Republican governor stood on stage and held up The Times' Weekend Calendar cover story about the hall.

Displaying it to the crowd, Schwarzenegger said: "I'm not selling the L.A. Times, I may remind you," pausing and getting a good laugh. "But it makes me feel proud because I know these pictures will be going around the world."
