A Craftsman comeback

So what do you do if you own a landmark California Craftsman home in Glendale whose cedar shakes have been painted some 20 times during the past century? Paint yet again? Kind of. If you're Jeff Kurtti and Ken Martinez you hire Dan Gallagher of Gallagher's Decorative Painting and Design (Lic. No. 733972) to apply his artistic magic and bring back the appearance of the original cedar shakes.
This is a faux-painting adventure on a grand scale, involving weeks of work, three base colors, several glazes and, as Dan put it, "Old World trade secrets and modern paint technology."
For a decorative painter, life doesn't get much better than this. "We are having so much fun," Dan said during the process. "We can't wait to get to work each day."

That is truly beautiful work!
