Looking for a pretty good licensed contractor?

The question I get most from readers is: "Can you recommend a contractor?"

I've got something better than that: A list of general contractors whose projects have been featured in my "Pardon Our Dust" series in the Los Angeles Times. I can't really recommend a contractor, but the homeowners who hired these companies were so happy with their finished projects that they wanted to see them in the newspaper.

Allen Associates (Santa Barbara) Project Q&A
Hartman Baldwin Design Build (Claremont)
Built (Los Angeles) Project
Mega Builders (Chatsworth) Project Q&A
Plaskoff Construction (Tarzana)

Richard Grenier, Grenier Construction (West Hills)
Devereaux Construction (Long Beach)
Pat Patton and Associates (Northridge) Project
A Straight Line Construction Co. (Simi Valley)
