After moving to the U.S. from England several years ago, Kara Noble and her husband took on a 1940s Manhattan Beach bungalow that had been infused with way too much 1970s vibe.
Part of their challenge was updating a paint-specked brick fireplace (below).

Kathy lives in a house with good bones and a lot of potential, and shares her life with one husband, one dog, two horses and three quite exceptional stepdaughters.
I think it looks great! Not overly traditional or modern. Will work well with any decor. Good job.

i am so glad they didn't use granite - just concrete. great cheap idea. i like the modern fire balls too.
