Mammoth Mountain gets artsy in a whole new way
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area recently debuted its new Art Park, a first-of-its-kind terrain park that seems as much fun to look at as it is to ride. (Though it had a soft opening in mid- to late-December, the weather kept Art Park from operating consistently until this month.)
Featuring a series of artist-designed jumps, boxes, rails and sculptures, this interactive effort will have rotating exhibits each season. This year highlights artist, pro snowboarder and Mammoth local Jeff Anderson, who died in 2003 at age 23.
Gracing the terrain park are some of the images from the exhibit "I am Snowboarding," which toured the U.S. in 2010 and featured 44 world-renowned photographers and artists paying tribute to Anderson.
Art Park is located on Mammoth's Round Robin run near Canyon Lodge and Chair 16 and is accessible with purchase of a lift ticket.

Love the art at the park. More parks around the US resorts should make this happen as well. Great read.
