Newlyweds plan to honeymoon at Bassmaster Classic
Newlyweds Jim and Donna Tyree of Austin, Texas, are hardcore bass anglers. So when they got married Jan. 1, they knew their honeymoon plans were going to be delayed so that they could spend it at the Bassmaster Classic, which begins Friday at Lay Lake in Birmingham, Ala.
"We booked our hotel room even before we booked our wedding reception," Donna said.
"We went to the Bassmaster Elite Series weigh-ins in Del Rio [Texas] the first year they were at Lake Amistad and we had an absolute blast," continued Donna. "We decided that the Bassmaster Classic would be that times 100 -- no, that times 1,000."
Their five-day trip will include attendance at all three weigh-in days, Feb. 19 to 21, as well as time to enjoy the Bassmaster Classic Outdoors expo being held in conjunction with the tournament at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex.
The happy couple did not meet while fishing, but at a medical-related function -- Donna works for an orthodontist and Jim is a dentist. Both soon discovered they also shared a love of fishing.
"About nine months after we started dating we joined our first bass club, so we've been fishing together for several years," said Donna.
Sounds like the perfect hook-up.
