Jeremy Lusk still in critical condition as a result of FMX accident in Costa Rica

Luskkod240

Action sports fans continue to pull for Jeremy Lusk, who remains comatose after a freestyle motocross accident in Costa Rica that was so painful to watch I refuse to post the video on this blog.

(Anyone who wants to see it knows the process.)

Seriously, all I hope for, as it pertains to Lusk and his family, is a happy ending to this story, which remains possible.

A Monday night update from a spokeswoman for the Metal Mulisha, for whom Lusk rides:

--Jeremy remains in a medically induced coma at Calderon Hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica.

--He's still in very critical condition.

--Doctors have lowered his core body temperature to continue to treat swelling of the brain.

--Thankfully, his brain is functioning.

--Plans remain to transport Jeremy to a U.S. trauma center as soon as possible, perhaps as early as Tuesday morning.

--Jeremy's parents, Chuck and Gina Lusk, are with their son in Costa Rica.

The Metal Mulisha publicist reminds fans that an emergency fund to help defer costs of medical care has already been established and is set up to take donations.

All donations made through this site are earmarked directly for Jeremy's care. Donations are appreciated, but so are good wishes, which can work wonders.

--Pete Thomas

obviously the people who are talking negatively about jeremy are haters and cant ride. So, at least he died doing what he loved to do and this has nothing to do with starving kids dork, he does have a wife though and im sure he was her life too so, she should get help from whatever that comes her way and she deserves it. So you haters go backflip your razors.

To Stevo, look up the LDS church. They know what happins after you die but really, to those who think J.L. had the money, maybe but know this, the only way you get money in this sport is by doing it. Most stuff is free from sponsers but he had to go big to get the money and for people to not appriciate this guy is wrong. He was a great roll model, its bacause of people like him kids want to try new things and ya so there are risks, but everything we do has em so ya i really hope carma comes aound and bites those guys its a charity and they say thats the pure love of Christ. You want to donate to kids? Great glad you have them in mind but i see it like this, kids are in need and so is the family of a great rider so just think before you speak really.

I have raced motocross since i was five years old and i have always looked up to this man. He was my favorite rider. R.I.P Jeremy Lusk you rocked it and we're all gonna miss you. R.I.P

Forgive me vicki if you think I was being negative. Not alot of people want to ponder on eternity. I'm talking about etenity to people on this blog. Not where I think Jeremy is. It just makes me think, where do we go when we die? I'm sorry if you think its negative, but i like to stir up that thought in everyone reading. Again,my utmost respect for Jeremy's family and friends. God bless Fam! Jeremy Rocked it!

I think it's a shame that when someone passes, that anyone would make any sort of negative comment. Especially someone so young. Jeremy was a kid! I have a 24 year old that still rides, and he's still a kid to me! Put yourself in his family's shoes! And remember at some point down the road they may read this. Have some compassion. Rest in Peace Jeremy. The only peace I can find with the tragedy is that you died doing what you loved to do, but that sure doesn't make it right. You brought enjoyment to many people.

With my utmost respect to his family and to his friends. God bless em. I hope all out there realize, thats how fast life is...a vapor! Long life or not...tomorrow's promised to no one. If you died today are you a 100% sure where your going? I sure hope Jeremy Is poppin fatty flips in heaven, but if we don't know Jesus... Jesus talked a bunch about heaven, but he also spoke about us dying in our sin and going to a bad place, where God's presence ain't. In no way do I judge Jeremy's destination, but let that be a lesson to us how short life is. I love all my brothers and girly bikers or I wouldn't be writing this. God loves ya no matter what you did..He made a Way for us...know HIM! they say that hells doors are locked from the inside...

Great rider - no question. Donations?? Dude wasn't broke and has some pretty wealthy friends so I'm guessing his family is well taken care of. Sooo, I agree with the anti-donation crowd - poor use of money. But this is America, land of astronauts and rich celebs getting comped by broke star struck fans so break out the checkbook. For those of you that read this comment carefully and intelligently, you'll realize nothing negative has been written about JL. For the rest of you, ask a grown-up to explain it to you.

Larz Blackman .... if you google this clown youll see the smart ass goes on every blog he can find and writes stupid crap. the guy is lonely how sad

Beyond sad.
May the good Lord console the families of this young man, especially his mother and father. As a mother and grandmother, I cannot even comprehend such unbearable grief. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Larz is not a jerk just because he does not agree with all of you. This guy was a great athlete who knew the risks of his sport. He understood death could happen in any jump he took. He did not care enough about his family to change his life-riding a bike in a dangerous sport. In death, however tragic, we owe NOTHING to them. He made a choice, and died by it. He made more than enough money to have a decent life monetarily.

It doesn't matter if someone wants to donate and help out his family in this tradgic time, that's up to them. Those people who give to the lusk family obviously where touch by him for who he was and what he did. We all like to be entertained and he like to entertain us as much as like to ride.Yes he is a professional and I hope made provisions for the possibilties he faced in what he did for a living.
We will never know how many people he and his family helped, so what ever money his fans decide to give to them they deserve it.

God Bless to J and his family! RIP

LoneWolf

wow, i really cant believe the comments that i read...jeremy was an amazing athlete and will not be forgotten and yes he was a paid athlete, but you guys are fighting about someone who is dead. how cold hearted can you be. how do you even pretend to call yourself fans larz and jorge the fact that you would say something so incredible rude about anyone who is dead is simply unreal. if it were your family and we were trying to raise donations for you it would be different. but because you dont know him personally; you want the money to go to charity. well just so you know charity is about giving to people who may not have what you have. in this case thats life, and a women without her husband. grow up.

To the two jerks who have nothing to do but spread stupidity, J.L. had more talent in his finger nail than you two knuckle heads so let his family morn for a second and keep your negativity to yourself! If we are lucky maybe carma will pay you two a visit! RIP Jeremy

i can not believe that someone can be so cold (larz Blackman) he was doing what he loved and what he loved made many children happy including my child who is 6 and wants nothing else out of life but to ride and be free and happy and if your such an ass larz that you can not understand how much one person could make some many children happy and even know we will donate to his fund i am sure the people in his family will know the right thing to do with the money to carry on his name and help children everywhere and to his wife and family we are so sorry for your loss and will pray for you every night but please know what jeremy did to make are family a family and want to be together watching and riding like jeremy has made us a family again god bless you will always be in our prays

i remember when a couple my homeboys and i were riding at octillio wells back when u were with srh we saw ur jersery say lusk on the back and u were tearin it up on this sick hit and ever since then i been watchin ur name get big in fmx anyways long story short u are one of my favorite riders tearin it up representing sd and u will always be remembered RIP

Jeremy was an kick ass guy and an amazing rider. Anyone who doesn't respect such a great athlete doesn't appreciate life man! yeah you could donate money to some kid you don't know or even care about. but everyone loved jeremy! he EARNED his position in the business being who he was. what's wrong with taking risks? everyone takes a chance with risks sometime, jeremy did it because he loved it. What happened to Jeremy was unfortunate, unfair, and extremely tragic. But ya know what, he died doing what he loved. so shut your mouth "Larz" and go learn something about moto x!

best wishes for the family,

Rest in Peace Jeremy .
And to all of you
complaining on Costa Rica's Public Health Care system , please do not
speak with no knowledge at all. The World Health Report ranking of countries medical services shows the USA at position #37 and guess what Costa Rica
yes a so called 3rd world country ranks #36 , (http://whoareamericans.com/2007/10/10/world-health-ranking-countries-medical-performance/).

To all of his family and friends God bless you.

Only Hard Hearted people, make derogatory comments about good people.

And until any of you can do the amazing things that he did in his short life,

you need to shut up, and step off!

You have no room to speak.

This is tragic, and my thoughts and prayers go out to all the family, friends, and fans alike. I rode in the early 80,s, and these guys took the sport to a whole other level of progression, my hats off guys and gals, and to all the techs, mechanics etc. I am in awe of you all, there is risk in everything we do, you cant even walk outside without some level of it, America would not be America, if somebody didnt take the risk to cross the seas, we would not have walked on the moon, if someone didnt get in the ship, so le me say this, be the best that you can be, stay humble, ride like the wind, and most importantly, enjoy your skill, enjoy your life, and one final thing. Give God thanks for your abilities.

Larz is right. You are all arguing he is a great athlete, and he was. A professional, paid athlete. He and his wife knew the risks of the trade. Don't like it, get out. But for real, give the money to starving orphans, not someone who can afford to pay and handle work.

RIP. Talented individual. You will be missed.

WOW. i cant even understand the way some people think now days. "why, dont you donate it to some kids," and "who's going to get it his wife?" let me be the first to say, if I passed, i could only hope there were some donations for my wife to help here get back on her feet. I dont know about the two knuckle heads that posted that crap, but i couldn't even try to imagine my other half, trying to pay for all the cost of burial, everyday life and getting life back in order after losing me. i would hope the donations would be considered money well spent! This is much of the problem today, No compassion for life. i feel for Jeremy, but i feel more for his young wife who is without the person she loves. RIP JEREMY.

Hey Larz your name should be LARD A.., How can you be so shallow? Karma will get you if one of the many riders across the country doesn't get to you first. Rest in peace Jeremy.

Jorge and Larz, what goes around comes around. Donations were going to be used to fly him home to get the best care he could. Obviously it doesn't matter now, does it? You actually took the time to post such negative garbage? Maybe we should set up a collection for your compassion bank....you obviously have none.

Understand but money can go towards other kids in need or help. I'm sure he had life insurance so donations will go to what his wife? Come on donations can go to a needy child instead. RIP Jeremy..
