Bear Mountain and Snow Summit will mark their official opening today at 8:30 a.m., with an 8- to 12-inch base of manmade snow at both resorts.

They will have a combined four chairlifts open and terrain available for beginner and advanced skiers and snowboarders, along with 13 jibs and two snow features.

Miracle Mile at Bear will be open top to bottom. Ticket windows open at 8 a.m. with lift hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early-season ticket rates are in effect Thursday through Sunday: adult tickets $35 for a full day, $30 for half. One ticket is good for both mountains.

Special note: Don't expect cover to look as it does in the file photo. It would require a major storm to accomplish that.
